So somebody could get the LT1, add money for the upgraded sound system, add money for Brembos and call it a day and come in under the 1SS price.
LT1 will come with Brembos standard.

If someone wants an SS...why can't we just select an SS with the options we want on the check off list. All this 1SS 2SS LT1 crap is confusing not to mention stupid. Back in the day you simply orders your Camaro, Chevelle etc SS and then selected the various options as to exactly what you wanted on your SS. All was simple for the consumer. All these new name tags are just stupid! Plus it forces spmeone to get an option they may not want just because they want one or two other particular options.

Basically because they want to streamline the assembly line and production process as much as possible. Also to make it easy on dealers when ordering.

It's cheaper for the manufacturer to limit options and to bundle options together.

What he said ^

All though I would love to see a la carte options return it never will. Everything soon will be a trim level with maybe one or two option groups

Could be. I’m taking my cues from the statement in the press material stating that Some of the new optional equipment available on the LT for 2020 includes a rear spoiler, red or orange brake calipers, 20-inch alloy wheels, Recaro seats, dark tinted taillamps and a sueded steering wheel and shift knob.

.

I figured that the colored calipers are the Brembos and that non-colored calipers are not Brembo. I guess they could just as easily be black caliper Brembo.

Build complexity is the bane of any assembly plant. Think of the number of build combinations if it was ala carte. And keep in mind that build complexity is compounded by the only thing keeping the Camaro alive and that's the build complexity of two Cadillac sedans and a coupe. Well for now, one Cadillac sedan and a coupe. We'll see if a coupe ever come back when the CT4 is announced.

At one point GM had a rule if it couldn't sell on 5% or greater of the production volume it was out.

Remember there was a day when Henry Ford said you could have any color you want, as long as it's black.

On my order screen, Brembos are the only brakes showing.

Does your order screen provide any info regarding the trans, diff, and aux outboard engine coolers? I'm guessing the 'LT1' will have a similar setup as the convertibles.

No. We'll have to wait for the order guide on that information.

They can't be both, standard and optional. True, Brembos are the only brakes showing......as an additional option, that is....

Non Brembo brakes will work just fine for the LT1, and keep costs down.

True, but they'll probably put the base Brembos as standard equipment anyway.
