do you have to run cats? I live in Texas. And if you don't do you have to run all four o2 sensors. Also do you have to get a tune done when you install long tubes?

You will need a tune to turn off the rear o2 sensors. Otherwise you'll get a CEL

Yeah... other than that, the tune will of course squeeze the most power out of the headers

I ran mine without a tune for a month, and never threw a cel, but the OBX does have a second bung for the downstream O2 sensor.

Shorties with hi flow cats give you pretty good gains. The problem is the power falls off way sooner up in the curve. The longtubes carry the power till the end of the curve. Best comparison....with shorties I lost to a fbo Mustang at the track by 1.5 cars. After longtubes and a retune we crossed the line door to door.

Just depends on the emissions laws in Travis County. If you don't have to pass emissions for your yearly inspection then I would go with just the test/off road pipes. I would recommend a tune to get the biggest gain from the headers and to get rid of the CEL. Check the tuning section here and reach out to Dyno Steve or Janetty Racing for a SCT device and remote tuning options. You can't go wrong with either option.

Also best and cheapest don't go together when talking headers. |

Don't waste your time with shorty headers. If you want cheap long tubes Speed Engineering if you don't need cats and OBX if you do. You'll likely have to do some massaging to fit with cheap headers, but if you don't mind dimpled headers you can save a bunch of money.
