Ran the car at Cal Club this weekend. Was the 2nd fastest rwd v8 car there. The fastest was a Shelby GT350 CAM car that was trailered in. He ran a 30.9 to my 31.3. I’d say the springs work just fine on this car

Tracks are really not a good place to test lower springs. most tracks are prepared surfaces not subject to the general population.

Tracks almost always benefit from lower and stiffer as they are mostly a lot smoother without the uneven pavement, expansion joints, etc. that roads have to deal with

Unless you are at The Ring, most tracks can hide most bad behavior that springs have because they are too smooth to really test them.

I’m not sure I understand your logic. So other than Nurburgring, where else can we properly evaluate the effectiveness of a particular spring? Certainly not on the street.. Either way, this was an Autocross in a parking lot with tons of ruts and surface defects, not a prepared track.

Is a stock 1LE the same ride height as stock SS, or is a 1LE lower?

Here's my calculations comparing the base SS, SS 1LE, and base SS with GM lowering kit. Note the spring and tire height differences.

Based on my calculations, the SS 1LE springs alone are lower than the base SS springs by the following:

Front: 0.336" lower
Rear: 0.579" lower

Overall ride height on SS 1LE (considering both wheel/tire combo and springs) is lower than base SS by the following:

Front: 0.828" lower
Rear: 0.766" lower

Therefor on base SS, the GM lowering kit combined with SS 1LE wheel tire package would sit:

Front: 0.44" lower than SS 1LE
Front: 1.27" lower than base SS

Rear: 0.20" lower than SS 1LE
Rear: 0.96" lower than base SS

*********************************
Numbers that went into calcs above:

SS 1LE:
Front wheel diameter: 26.73"
Front ground to top of arch: 27.875"
Rear wheel diameter: 27.20
Rear ground to top of arch: 28.0625"

Base SS:
Front wheel diameter: 27.72"
Front ground to top of arch: 28.70"
Rear wheel diameter: 27.58
Rear ground to top of arch: 28.83"

Wow, that's an extremely detailed answer. Thanks for all of the info.

The reason for my question is I just purchased some 1LE replica wheels and I plan on getting the 1LE tire fitment and wondered if that wheel and tire combination is going to fill the wheel wells OK.

Thanks again,

Bill

I noticed that and its unfortunate people are that way. I wish the moderator would block them. We dont need that negative talk.

How do I get the 1LE suspension mapping on a normal SS with lowering springs with MRC?
