Tire question for first time user
Not sure I am competent in posting question, sorry. 2018 SS needs tires, basic use but not in winter, prefer "performance" i suppose... Are Michelin best option & if so, what version? Will also have question about exhaust upgrades and air intakes once I figure out how to do this.

Don't know your tire size based off of just "SS". I'm simply going to guess it's a standard 1SS.
Anyway, I'd do Continental Extremecontact Sport's. Almost all brands make a "good" tire...hard to say any is "best".

Thank you for your reply. Yeah, sorry, “newbie” so didn’t elaborate properly. For that correction it is a “Redline Edition” 2SS with 245/40 ZR 20 - 95Y (front) & 275/35 ZR 20 - 98Y (rear) factory Goodyear tires on now. I will look into the Continental recommendations. Thanks again.

Not in winter, get some summer tires. Continental ECS, Michelin PS4S are the top of the line, money is no object options.
Some cheaper options are the Yokohama Apex V601, General G-Max RS, Firestone Firehawk Indy 500, and the Falken FK510. Those are the summer tire options. The all-seasons are no slouch though. General G-Max AS-05 BFG G-Force Comp-2 AS+ Continental DWS06+ Michelin PSAS4 are all great all-season tires.

Replaced the OEM run flats with Michelin PS4s. Now just waiting for warmer weather to swap out the winter sottozeros for them.

I had Continental Extreme Contact Sports on my 2016 2SS and they rode and handled well. I did go to 285/35 20 on the rear and the stock size on the front due to MRC/spring clearance.

This chart pretty accurately reflects reality: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/surve...ay.jsp?type=MP
For street use, the Michelin PS4S has the best all around performance (dry, wet, hydroplaning resistance, noise, treadwear). They will be usable down to 38-40 degrees, although obviously traction will not be great when the pavement is so cold, careful driving is required. The Continental ECS is close to it in terms of these parameters and typically cheaper to get. The Michelin PSS is an older construction directly preceding the PS4S, not sure you would be able to get a set with a datecode not too old even if you wanted to. I have no personal experience with the Pirelli P Zero Nero GT, it only edged out the Contis with its treadwear, which isn't the most important performance tire metric IMO. The OEM Goodyear tires the SS comes with are sitting near the bottom of the inferior (runflat) chart.

Did my research here and on the web and that is why I chose the Michelin.

Michelin PS4s are the only tire that go on any of our cars these days.

I'm not going to make any suggestions, but I will say this. I have 0 faith in any all season tires regardless of brand or ratings outside of bad weather driving.

If you aren't driving when it's way below freezing (and definitely not in snow/ice), then you need what I call a "three-season" tire and not an all-season. There are only two worth considering: The Continental ExtremeContact Sport and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. These two perform equally for street use. They are fantastic performers in the dry, even down to freezing (just drove mine in 26F weather a few days ago and they still had lots of grip). But what most people don't realize is that these are the two best rain tires you can buy, bar none. Both of these tires have far better performance in the wet than their respective all-season stablemates (Continental EC DWS and Michelin PS All Season 4). These are absolutely the two tires to drive on the street unless/until it snows or ices up.
