Don’t quote me on this as being good info, but in reading through a corvette forum (found it by searching about 8.6 firmware) it sounds like the latest revision is a resounding success, as well it won’t drain the battery and can be kept plugged in... pretty exciting news if all
is true.

Unfortunately, the yare still making one for the 2017 and 2018 SS Camaros in which I am now waiting for.

Do these write to the ECM or are they simply piggyback modules easily removed and no warranty concerns?

Okay, found the switch.
https://www.amazon.com/Tonsiki-Femal...y+afm+disabler
I will order this through Amazon and the Disabler from Range to be sure I get the latest version (8.6).
I will not be installing until spring...

I jumped on the bandwagon and bought from Range today.

I won't be able to wait for spring, so any weather above 40F and dry, I'm going to check it out. The good news is they think they've solved the nuisance issues. As well, they confirmed that version 8.6 will shut itself off when it see's the rpm go below a certain level (I believe 500RPM, I can't remember... Alzheimer's kicking in). I don't plan on buying a switch unless I have issues.... I'll follow up shortly with a review.

That is good news... looking forward to your review. If this thing works I will still keep the switch so I can use the AFM when on long trips/highway driving.

I ordered on Tuesday and got the Range on Thursday. They said on the phone this version won’t drain the battery. However, the box says to unplug, as it may drain the battery on some cars. I have to call them back on this....

I should be able to test it’s functionality tomorrow.

That would be nice if you could leave it plugged in and it would shut off. Post your findings bud. Thanks

I was able to try out the newest Range AFM device.
  • 6 start stops of over a period of 70 +/- miles, highway and city.
  • No codes or other electronic issues (so far, so good).
  • It could be my imagination, but shifting seemed much better (than usual) after 50 or so miles of full time V8 mode.
  • I'll leave it plugged in for week +/- starting this evening (will check battery voltage periodically).I'd like to buy a cheap milliamp meter, but don't know how much "stock" parasitic draw there is compared to the range device. As well, what scale and accuracy is needed for an a good test.
  • When the car shuts down, the Range LED shut off.
  • The goal is to easily start the car after 8-9 days (which is normal if the range were not plugged in)

Good point about the 8-9 days. I left mine this past summer for two weeks while I was away and it would not start due to "normal" battery drain. I will keep watching for your posts.
