CAMARO team has lots to be proud of

I just wanted to give the CAMARO team at GM lots of props. I cant imagine the internal politics involved in even a hint at CANCELLING such a wonderful car. From the outside, it looks like the top brass is throwing this car (and it's team) under the BUS. I just want to let the TEAM know that this car is worth fighting for and should be treated in the same way that FORD treats the Mustang.

There should be way more investment in making variations (Z-28, IROC) that keep the pages of CAR mags fresh. GM is doing great with the new Corvette, but this car is being forgotten. People dont event know what the car is, they ask me (What car is it). They are shocked when I tell them that its a CAMARO, how is this possible?

MY point: Fight for this car and its future, its worth it.

Hey Speak99, as part of "underbus-throwing", the Camaro team was disbanded and their former lead Al Oppenheiser assigned to electric vehicle projects. Not sure they will have a chance to read your (otherwise excellent) post.

Thanks for sharing, this proves my point as to why this car is getting this kind of treatment. GM has had a history of making poor decisions on products. I think that EV will be another example of this.

Sales are a big indicator and this car isn’t selling. Ford and Chevy’s bread and butter are their trucks. Surprised Chevy is still making cars since Ford pretty much focused on trucks. The new administration’s energy policy is going to make electric cars more of a focus and can foresee gas prices rising. Not sure about Canada’s energy policy, but imagine the world is focusing on electrification. I had a choice between gas performance and electric and chose gas. I just don’t get the same excitement from driving in silence. The instant torque is breathtaking, but the symphony from the exhaust and rowing gears just heightens the experience.

GM should treat this car like the Challenger and Mustang. Sales do speak a 1000 words, but it would not take much to freshen it up a little to get more attention. The muscle car/sports car is a shrinking segment, all you are doing is stealing customers away from the competitors. But if a car is purposely being forgotten, then this is the result....poor sales. The CHALLENGER over ten years old and outsells the CAMARO, how does this happen year after year?

I hope this car moves on, it is the only GM car I would buy, Corvette is a maybe. Although, I hope GM understands that even with these sales, let's say at the least, the average price of a Camaro is 31,000 and sold 29,000 cars, that's nearly a billion dollar name. Although, knowing GM, they will not care or learn from anything.

While that's a significant amount, when you put it in perspective to overall GM sales, it's approximately 1% of total. I don't know anyone who has a business who would invest much to improve a component that small. Just saying..

That's true about investment, but they could also improve sales? People still buy the 370Z and Challenger/Charger even though those car designs are over ten years old. The 370Z interior even looks ten years old, I considered buying one, got inside and said that this was dated. I did not consider Dodge because they dont have a vert and their quality is garbage. This Camaro is a very strong product and should not be neglected.
