I would surmise both would be pretty much equal. Maybe the edge to the 94 with ethanol.
I read somewhere that ethanol could lower the octane rating by 1 or 2 points?
Would the 94 work for a 93 octane tune?
Always best to choose the highest octane available these cars are octane hungry.

Ethanol raises octane.

I run the X85 version of VP fuels... Its $45 for a 5 gallon can. At least with this stuff you know for sure you are mixing 85% ethanol!

I started with a cheap Holly ethanol % tester but have evolved to making a best guess based on gas gauge and how much I want to brew. I have a spread sheet formula that will tell me how much of each then rely on my AEM gauge (displays ethanol content from the flexfuel sensor) to decide if I need to tweak it or not. Has not been the night mare I was afraid it would be. My vehicle is recreational only so it is not the task it otherwise might be.

I havent been able to get mine exact yet... I think E37 was where i was at according to HPTuners.

This calculator works pretty good!

So does the flex-fuel sensor and tune adjust for E content?

Say you have a tank of E60 mix and you're in a area where no E85 is available and you're about to run out, so you fill up with 93 octane gas... will the tune adjust?

Sorry, just dont understand how the flex-fuel stuff works... feel free to dumb down the answer.

I just keep a 5 gallon can of each and if I need to correct i'll just add for the direction I need to go. I had been doing all of this in the garage but decided to take my formula to the pump and got lucky. This was going from e40 to fill e40. going from 91 octane to e40 is more fun.

Just like you said. The magic is in the tuner.

The flex fuel sensor reports the ethanol content and Ted tells the computer what to do based on the reported content.

I dont have E85 close by. Nearest is 35 minutes from me. Was wondering if there were any benefits of running 5 gallons of E85 with 14 gallons of 93? will I see any HP/TQ increase? If so how much more or less? Currently car is bolt on, 9.1 pulley, kooks headers, Rotofab intake.

Do you have it tuned for Ethanol? It needs to be enabled in the tune first. With that mix its about E30, you will see some benefits! I stated before DO NOT go over E45 with a pulley! you will run out of fuel!

My car is bolt on. RotoFab, kooks/2" primaries and green cats, kooks 3" x-pipe and mid pipe to stock muffler, Mamo PTB, JMS low side fuel pump voltage booster, DSX flex fuel kit.

No pulley.

Car dropped from 11.34 @ 126 to 10.91 @ 132. My tune is for 91 and flex fuel. The difference between running 91 and e40 is crazy. I don't usually believe in butt dynos but the butt dyno isn't wishful thinking in this case. A serious difference. The 10.91 was first time out after bolt ons and tune. I know there are 10.70s without touching the motor or spinning the blower faster.

I won't confirm your fuel mix but if you follow your tuner (required) you should be a happy man unless you have a bad tuner.

this fuel stuff is confusing man.

will I be wasting my time or doing any damage to my stock ZLE if I put E85 in my tank?

I have no tune or any mods done to the car.

I think there is a station near my house that sells E85.

It is really very simple your car runs premium pump gas E-10 everywhere only.

With our flex fuel sensor and tune package the car can then burn any thing from E-10 to E-70

Call me and I will be happy to answer all your questions.

Ted.

So I’m currently not tuned for E nor do I have a sensor for it. Future plans were to port the stock SC. I know it’s a heat pump but price wise I cannot afford a Mag or whipple (which would be awesome) but would also require more fuel either from cam or 5k in injectors and pump. Once again that would mean money I don’t have. I was considering running meth with the ported SC, but now curious what can be done with E?

Ted, you have done very well with it and seems you have the secret recipe for this. Would there be any benefit to running ported SC, 95mm TB, headers, intake, and 9.1 pulley on E?
