Brake Pads

So I'm thinking of upgrading my brakes since they are squealing now. I daily my car and have taken it to autocross a couple times. I heard ceramic brake pads would make cleaning my wheels a lot easier. Not sure if i would have to replace my rotors if I go ceramic.

What do you guys recommend?

OEM Pads are better than Ceramic Pads for your current stated driving habits.

OEM are better. I replaced my rotors and pads with OEM, no squealing anymore.

I replaced mine with ceramic. Did not notice any difference in breaking performance... no squeaking, no more dusty rims. I personally would not go back to oem...

I replaced mine with Hawk HPS brake pads. Had them on my Corvette and loved them so I put them on my Camaro also. Since your not really tracking your car that's what I would suggest.

If I do go with ceramic, should I also upgrade the rotors?

OEM or the Wilwood ProMatrix pads. Have had ours for over a year now and they can stand up to quite the track abuse and street driving. Only time I really get noise is after a hot lap session. Once they cool down, all is quiet again. They are priced quite reasonable also. Worth a look.
Front pads are part # 150-D1050K
Rear pads are part # 150-D1053K

I have the Wilwood pads and get a bit of noise even after mildly aggressive street driving, but I like how they work. Seem about the same as the OEM pad during normal use, but have a bit more bite (IMO) if you really lay on them hard.

I like the fast bite of them for sure. Especially doing an Optima event with a down hill speed stop like at NCM. Quick drag of the brake for a little heat and they are good to go. That and Putnam Parks down hill straight heading for turn one. You need to haul it down from 130 and these pads have always been on the ready to do that.

Please do not put ceramic pads on a 4000lb car, that extra 15' will put you dead in the middle of that stopped semi trailer in the 2nd lane. OEM or Carbotech.

and "upgrade" the rotors???? To what? quality 2 piece? Drilled and slotted rotors "look" pretty, but are MUCH weaker, they are not an "upgrade" in any sense of the word.

There's nothing wrong with the stock Brembo pads. They are a great product. If you want more stopping power get the six piston front calipers. It will cost you. If you're looking for more piece of mind on the track because you're experiencing fade then try hawk pads made for track vs street and track but be prepared to changed your rotors often and your pads between track sessions.
