I used the GM syncromesh called out in the owners manual changed at 2500 miles or there about. I figure better off using the spec fluid while it's under warranty. I used the same in my mangum which is the same trans - in my 71 Camaro. I will probably move both to either RP or the Tremec stuff next time and then keep that in stock for both cars.

I use Signature Multi-Vehicle ATF in mine. Works fine, it's slightly better at cold but not by too much.

Sent from toaster or something

My dealer put a note in my last receipt when I got an oil change saying manual trans change recommended at 45k miles under severe conditions. I don't track mine but do slam it occaisonally if there is an opening with no traffic. Never slammed it above 4th gear as I would be deep into triple digits. Just no place in my area to do that. So not sure I come in the severe category. But I will change during my next oil change. I changed my rear fluid last time.

most day-to-day street driving counts as the "severe" category.

Changed mine at 20k. Helped with cold weather. To fill I bought a small electric pump and snaked a hose through the engine bay. Took longer to get the car up on 4 jack stands to get car level then to drain and fill.

My trans shifts as smooth as butter with the original oil. I'll probably replace it with the same oil.
