how effective are the SS hood vents?
How good are the stock SS hood vents at pulling heat out of the engine bay? Looking at them, it seems as if only 1/3 of the length is actually vent and the other 2/3 are decorative. Are there aftermarket ones that use the full size cutout for venting purposes?

Look at hexvents.com......I've had two sets, very high-quality alum Powder coat, not plastic

Hopefully very effective. But they are part of the gen 6 SS look that I absolutely love.

Hexvents website lists vents for 2016-2018 but the pics are of an older model.

They worked when I hit 174, no hood buffering (is that a word?) , front end did not wander, or heat issues...

It would be nice of they had a quick release for the rain guards to open the vents up completely.

Full disclosure: i'm looking at them to add vents to my C6 Corvette hood. The current trend to adding hood vents to the C6 Corvette is to use the 5th Gen Camaro center vent. I like the look of these twin smaller vents than the single middle one. The Corvette is a ground breather and sucks in outside air from under the car, so having escape vents at the hood allows for better airflow from underneath through the engine bay and out the top. The location of the twin vents at the sides of the hood line up better with the airflow path for the radiator than the center vent which due to its low hood is basically touching the intake manifold. Many automakers have for years used cosmetic pieces to enchane the look of vehicles. The Camaro vents are functional, but I'm curious HOW functional. Would it be better to just get some generic race vents (like the ones sold on hexvents.com)? But they are not nearly as attractive as the 6th Gen camaro vents. If the camaro vents are effecient for drawing out air, then they would fit perfect with the lines of the C6 vette, and still give it that factory look. Quote:
