Alternative street tire
I love the OEM Goodyears. But I'd like some first hand experience recommendations for other high performance tires that give better life with minimum decrease in performance. This is for aggressive street handling, not track.
Thanks.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is my choice. I've had them on my car (in OEM size) for over 2,500 miles and I absolutely love them. Great in the rain too.
They even perform as good as the OEM tires at the track. I ran on them as Sebring last month and was very impressed that I was able to hit the same lateral G's on that track as I did with my Goodyears. Can't beat a 15K mile treadwear warranty either.

I had a set of Nitto NT555 G2's for a little bit. Didn't drive them long enough to compare to the lifespan of the OE GY's, but they have a 320 treadwear rating instead of 220. As expected, there's a little less grip due to the harder rubber compound so I'd also expect them to last longer.
I've also heard they grip pretty well once they're hot if you ever do decide to track with them, but have never tried it for myself.

My experience with Michelin PSS was a lot more life, comparable grip, poor track wear. So great street tire.

After the one track session on my PS4S, you can't even tell they were tracked. And I drive my car 10/10ths at the track, but am careful not to over drive the tires.

Do you remember if the new 4s is quieter than our Goodyears when they are brand new?

The same tires will wear and perform differently on different makes of cars. I was running Michelin PSS before I upped my power and they were fantastic all around.

longer tread life. However I personally found it more affordable to get a used set of SS wheels and 50k mile all seasons and then keep the OEM Goodyears for occasional use only. About $1k for the wheels and tires as opposed to $1300 for OEM Supercar 3s or $1500 for Pilot Sport 4S. My All Season Setup Stock SS wheels Front: 20X8.5 et25 (255/35R20) Rear: 20X9.5 et39 (275/35R20)

I have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's waiting to go on. I finally quit trying to be happy with lesser expensive tires after about 27 years of buying them. I came close to getting the Firestones and Continental Sports, but came across a great deal on the Michelins. $1070 minus $160 in Visa cards.
