Here is a list of the stock Ecu pins I see I forgot to put a mark next to the flex fuel in. I think that was blue conn pin 38. I made all off these connections at the connectors near the ecu.

Thanks for this build thread man!

I don't know if Tim told you, but I have a similar thing going on in my home garage with a Z06.

For the vast majority of people the basic fuel system upgrades and a meth kit will do. I want to work my way to 1000+ hp some day so this makes sense. Hell just the 2 extra features like speed based boost control and nitrous control are worth almost what the unit costs.

I am not sure why but it bothers me a little when shops make stuff like this out to be some kind of black magic that only their shop can do. If you can wire in a car stereo you can wire this thing in. If you can dial in your a/f ratio and timing with hptuners then you can tune the squirt.

But wait... its VooDoo magic. LOL.

There are a LOT of things that greedy shops tell customers to do, that are 100% not needed (other than putting $$$ in the shop's pockets). Thankfully not all are like that, but it sucks when ideas get put into people's heads.

"Run these spark plug wires, they are the best"
"These coil packs will make you have less missfires"
"Brand ______ ecu is the best, and the rest are junk"
"You NEED these extra sensors or your car won't run right"
"This intake manifold makes more power then all others"
"You HAVE to have a larger throttle body on a FI car"
"My tune is WAY better then ______ tune (only to find its a "canned tune")"

BUT, I can understand a shop is around to make money. If a shop has created a package that makes good power, runs well, and is very repeatable. There is no reason why they wouldn't want to keep repeating that exact combo. They will get the best results, easy to deal with issues should they pop up, and good for the customer. I can also understand them not wanting to give away all the details... just to see another shop undercut them $$ wise, without having to do any "R&D" work themselves.

I am trying to pay for this as I go so this will take maybe another month or so before it is up and running.

I purchased some injectors and rails. the rails have the strait ports and come with brackets and oring fittings. they were just $109. that seems crazy cheap. the injectors I got are the tall versions and look to be nearly perfect fit with the supplied rail brackets.

I do see a problem that I need to research before I continue. I drilled a 5/16" hole through one of the injector bung holes on the msd intake. the plastic under the injector is 1" thick! the tip of the injector is less than 1/4". that means the injector will be recessed 3/4" up in the 5/16" hole. I cant help but think that will make for some inconsistent fueling if the fuel is spraying against the wall of that hole and running down in a stream.

I am going to call around tomorrow and see about the extended tip injectors.

Why not drill the intake further down to desired depth?

the oring on the injector would have to seal up against a drilled hole rather than the factory hole.

I wouldn't be able to sink the injector that far.

there is a seam between the upper and lower parts of the intake I would have to avoid.

the area where the hole enters the port is at a 45deg angle.

I have been looking at the extended tip injectors. they have one that is over 100lbs/hr that has close to a 1" extended tip. I am thinking use those and counter sink the hold from the port side if it doesn't reach into the port.

I ordered a set of extended tip injectors from deatschwerks. they have about 3/4" tip on them with a 15deg spray pattern and are 1100cc or about 104lb units at 43psi. I will update with pics once I get them. they are on the shorter side so I ordered some tophats to go with them to get the rail up a little.

I think I will still need to counter sink the injector a hair from the top and counter sink the hole a little from the bottom to get a clear shot for the injector.

I got the longer injectors. Deatschwerks was very helpful helping me figure out what injectors to use and taking the other set back. you can see in the pics I still had to clearance the port a little to expose the tip. I wish it were even longer but I think this is the best I can do.

the injectors are the perfect length for the rail brackets. all I had to do was bend the rail brackets back a little and everything bolted together. next is wire up the injectors and in a few weeks order some pumps, filters, regulator...
