2020 LT1 AFM Valve Question

I have a new 2020 LT1 A10 with about 700 miles on it. Yesterday I noticed that there was a random chirp while driving. Upon closer analysis it would appear that the chirp occurs only when changing from V4 to V8 mode.

After getting home and doing some reseach it appears that is the AFM exhaust valve. So here is my question..

Do I need to take it into the dealership immediately, or can it wait until I change the oil at 1,500 miles? Is it just an annoyance or can it cause other issues?

Also, I havent seen any posts about this that were recent. Is this common on newer A10 models?

Thanks all!
Ox.

It could actually be either the AFM valves, NPP valves and/or both. The AFM valves only open and close during the V8 to V4 transition. However, the NPP valves open and close at various times to muffle the sound. One way to isolate the problem is pull fuse 51 for the NPP valves. This will keep them open 24/7. If you still hear it when it goes from V8 to V4, then it is the AFM valves. You can eliminate the AFM valve sound by buying the range finder AFM disabler (https://www.rangetechnology.com/); however, you will have to wait because they do not make one yet for 2021 Camaros.

On my 2018 2ss Camaro, it ended up being both. So, I pulled fuse 51 and then bought the AFM disabler. All was quiet.

Hello!

Welcome to the squeaky valve club.

Helpful thread:
https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=550172

I've also gone ahead attached the TSB for lubing the valves, Although I recommend if it is the NPP valves that you spray into the exhaust and make sure you exercise them a few times and spray in both open and closed positions.

I typically have to lube mine every couple months, not a very hard thing to do.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

I do not have the NPP exhaust on this car, just the A10.

What lube do you use? I saw the stuff they recommend in the TSB, but it doesn't seem so easy to find... unless I am missing something!

Thanks again,
Ox.

Nice... Thanks!

In the description it says that it is discontinued by mfg. Is there a replacement part # or is that prolly a misprint? Either way... Looks like it is in stock now! 😀
