Keep my 5th Gen SS, trade for a 2018 SS, or wait for a possible 7th Gen SS

Hey guys a have a long winded question. My 2011 SS has 99,000 miles on it as of today and I love it. I purchased it new as a college graduation gift. I have almost no performance modes done to it and its starting to feel a little slow now. I've kept up with all the maintenance so theres no issues there. Last week I inquired about doing a cam swap, headers (I already have a CAI) and tune at a local mechanic and I was told that it'll run me about $4500. Is that a fair price for parts and labor? Also would it be a better option to just get a 6th Gen because of my miles? Or just save and wait for a 7th gen???

considering what a new 6th/7th gen would cost you could probably get a killer motor for your car and have money left over for cosmetic mods.

If you're pushing 100K, might be time to trade her in. After 100k, resale value seems to drop tremendously. If you were die hard wanting to keep it, then not a problem.

I'd recommend getting a 6th Gen SS, and when 7th Gens come out, you always have the option to trade in again for the latest and greatest, and still have "low miles" which will help you trade in value as well. JM2C

That’s what I thought. I was thinking the same thing but then traded my 2015 SS auto for a 2017 SS auto. Paid a $10k dif and am very happy now. There is a recent thread “my car is slow” that you may have missed.

imo, my 10 is a keeper. Paid for, over 151k, and still drives like a dream...

I've driven a number of 6th gen Camaro's... SS V8 and RS V6, I still love my ride too much to ever consider trading it in for one. This compared to mine with a number of bolt ons and cosmetic adds that are perfect to my liking... I fall in love all over again when I get in the driver's seat of my 5th gen. The 6th doesn't do that to me.

I'm very curious about the 7th Gen and that may be my next Camaro. It will be sitting next to my 5th gen if I get one.

If you like the 6th gen then trade in. It may be a good runner but the plain SS imo is run of the mill looks wise. Maybe see how the 7th gem looks.

I honestly think I feel like you do. I do love my 5th gen but I know I want to start modding it but didn’t know if modding @ 100k miles was a smart idea
