Cold start
Every time I start my ZL1 up when it's cold, there is a noise coming from the supercharger. It only lasts long enough for the engine to warm up. I have been told that this is normal operation. This is my first time having a vehicle with a supercharger, so I don't really know what to expect.
Do I make an appointment with the dealership and leave it with them over night or is it normal operation? Thanks in advance for your expert advice.

Can you discribe the noise? How cold is it in SC this time of year?

The noise sounds like bearings for the rotors in the SC. It's always started from being in my garage, so nothing less than 55 degrees.

Is it a rattling sound? If so, it could be the coupler which has a spring in it that rubs on the pulley shaft. Mine does it all the time. If so, it can be fixed, but not by the dealer as it requires an aftermarket part to be installed.

I have that rattling sound all the time, even when warm. Obviously the sound gets louder with more RPM's.

Exactly what I'm doing at 7:30am in the morning. Leaving it with them overnight.

Every vehicle concern is addressed on a case by case basis. We cannot say that just because there is a concern on one brand of GM, it is all across the board for all vehicles. Are you currently having a concern with your vehicle? If so, send me a brief description to my inbox. I look forward to your reply. Brandon Chevrolet Customer Service
