If you know of a made in America drop in lithium battery for our car there is likely some interested people in here. You should post up what you find.

Not related to China but I did find some other smaller(less rated ah and cca) options that would likely work fine in the car and weigh even less. I wanted a bolt in unit.

I did find this battery on alibaba for $426 shipped. It seems a little more risky ordering there vs eBay/PayPal.

How much of a pain was it getting access to the battery? When i bought mine and saw the itty bitty access panel you pull off to even see the battery, i had to roll my eyes.

That access hole is just so you can unhook the negative terminal. To change the battery you have to take that entire panel off.

FYI - you cannot make lithium batteries in this country due to regulations with the toxicity of the process making the cores.

Well that is unless you are a government backed electric car company that needed to make their own batteries in Texas to be profitable - but hey, what's that matter?

Interesting. The weight savings are prodigious.

The China thing has me hesitant.

Keep us posted.

Interesting as well.

Someone is trying to fix that (the manufacturing thing); but is meeting with great resistance. I could get into the whole EPA and Jones Act/International shipping thing... but I choose not to.

Same planet, same atmosphere, same oceans. Yet somehow it makes people feel better if it is not in their "neighborhood".

I find this interesting as well but, as my car essentially sits for nearly six months out of a year, I’m not so sure this would be advantageous for me. Still, I’m interested in the long term results.

When the battery goes dead, the trunk will not open. So you'd have to open the rear seat and crawl into the trunk to release the lid, so that you can get to the 'button' to try the re-start thing.

Texas didn't get the contract. I think it's in Nevada.
