clicking sound when down shifting before a stop, A8

Any one experiencing a light clicking sound when down shifting before a stop. It's happen 3-2-1. Or 3-1 on automatic?

Went a couple of times to dealer and they keep saying it's normal as it has the double clutch.

Camara 16 2ss A8.

Thanks.

This may sound a little ignorant, but they told you your A8 has a double clutch?? As far as I'm aware (and I could be totally wrong) the A8 is a conventional automatic with a torque converter :x That's bizarre! Unfortunately I don't know much about the clicking noise

Next week I'll have another visit to the dealer, but this time I'll ask to see the head engineer to take the full information from him.

I only hear the sound when coming to a stop as it downshifts.

I think I just have to turn the radio on.

I literally just experienced the same noise! For me it happens when I'm coming to a stop and it sounds like the car is dragging something meanwhile I looked under the car and there's nothing hanging. I just heard this noise 10 mins ago!

i seem to be having a similar issue where downshifting is more of a metal on metal squeaking noise. also happens when im coasting and go to accelerate.

Just a quick thought, maybe check your axle bolts? ... there's a thread about them loosening / falling out.

I had an issue around the AFM valve/exhaust, got it replaced and put 24 miles on it and the NPP rattle started on the new one haha. fuse pulled now but mine was more of a squeak than a ticking. def sounds like you should take it to another dealer if they cant locate the issue. my dealer was terrible. hope you get it fixed!

Thanks for the feedback,

what exactly did you change? in my case i have changed the muffler and that was not for the the same issue, as the clinching sound comes from the middle to front area only with downshifting low gears,

they just replaced the whole exhaust and it did the trick. it was for the squeak issue and the NPP rattle. eliminated both issues. sounds like you may have a transmission issue?
