Problem after vvt cam install

Finished up a vvt cam install on my 2011 SS. Went with GPI SS1 vvt cam and also got remote tuning from Ryan at GPI. Installed the tune and the car started and ran fine. Took it out on the road and it ran fine for a couple of miles then lost power and died and now it won't start. Has anybody else had this happen?

I heard what sounded like an exhaust leak right before the car died. It turns over, but will not start. Pulled plugs and they are white indicating that it was lean. Rechecked all connections. Not getting a check engine light

Think it might be fpcm related. When my friend installed the tune, hptuners asked if he needed to write to the fpcm which required another credit. Did we screw something up by writing to the fpcm? hp tuners website says we only needed 2 credits for my car, but he used 3.

I’d imagine his tune would be bit on rich side depending if you were logging afr. Just to be clear, you were driving and lost power. How much was it driven before this happened since you said it ran fine.

Edit...it should have cost you 2 credits

We got about 2 miles up the road and it died. No fuel pressure at the rails now and don't hear the fuel pump priming

Check all fuses and connections. Pretty much everything you touched during the install?

Sounds to me like it`s your fuel pump, I had the same thing happen to me. I took it to the tuner, he used the laptop not dyno. On the way home it just died, but I was able to get it started and drove drive about ten more miles at 10 mph before it stopped completely. I got a ZL1 pump from a friend installed it and no more problems.

When looking at having the FPCM programmed the HP Tuner website indicated it would take 1 credit for the FPCM. Something about the 2 credits unlock the ECM, TCM, ans something else, but I'd need a credit to do the flash for the FPCM to go with the cars ZL1 pump, or purchase and ADM FPCM. Just what I read about the latest version, was a lot of discussion on the topic though. Some also said had bricked the FPCM when trying. IDK

Perhaps someone else with experience can chime in here???

It could be true now. It’s been many years since I tuned the car for a zl1 fpcm

I know that with the latet stable and beta release there's a warning during the writing process that states it's brickable. Hopefully that is not your case.

Wouldn't it have likely bricked right after the flash? He ran it a few times before it died.

Just a quick update. I'm thinking it may be the battery. Battery was getting weak and I was waiting it out. Did a log while cranking the car last night and had quite a few indications that it's something electrical. Going to change the battery tonight after work and see what happens
