I could use some advice here. I have a 2010 Camaro SS 2SS. The car came with the recall key setup where they are no longer part of the fob. I need to replace the fobs due to wear. Can I program the new fobs using the existing keys?

I bought mine with the same recall key setup. I bought some replacement key fob shells for 15 bux and swapped out the chip and the actually metal key. Nobody would cut the blanks that came with the new fobs. No programming need though

And PS.....you'll have to burn the plastic off the recall key replacement. And there is a small pin that's holds the key in place on the fob. You'll have to use a very small screw driver or something to punch it out. I lost the pin a few times in the carpet. Pain in the arse. Good luck

I don't plan on using the flip out key. I will continue to use the recall key. I just need a new fob.

Use a 1/16" punch to get the pin out.

This version has hard plastic vs. soft rubber and is much more durable.

This question is for my 2010 SS Camaro. I got my two new key fobs from Amazon today. I made sure when I bought them that the number inside the OEM fob matched what Amazon was selling me. They have uncut flip out keys in them. I took them to my car with my working fob and warranty style key(s) and attempted a few different processes to program the new fob and it does nothing. A lot of the videos discuss taking the blank and having it cut but I cant get a straight answer as to if the medal key actually has anything to do with the programming function. I never see anything display on the center info display. I go through the process and none of the new fob buttons work. Any suggestions?

You shouldn't have to program anything. It's just opening up the old fob, taking out the chip and putting in the new fob.

I guess I missed a little info. When I took the chip out of the old fob, the reason the unlock button didn't work was the micro switch was not missing from the board. I had to scrap it and buy a new full fob.
