Extended warranty

Looking for extended warranty suggestions for a 2018 after the powertrain expires soon. Who’s the best?

I was asking about a warranty when I bought mine and first response was dfichtner@laurelchevy.com. I emailed and Dennis responded almost instantaneously saying he would beat anyone's price unless they were selling at a loss. Sent me a big list of different types (I e. 24 mo/24k miles $100 ded or an unlimited for X years). Tons of options. Ranges from $1kish to over $4-5k if I recall right

EXTENDED WARRANTY CONTACTS

Todd was a couple of Benjamins less than Dennis on my 2017 Corvette.

There is a 30 day AND 1,000 mile waiting period on the GM plans they offer.

@NashZL1 are they selling a GM extended warranty or are these 3rd party warranties?
Thanks

Gm extended. Snippet from email:

Differences between the old GMPP and the new Chevrolet Protection Plan:

GMPP is a product of Ally Bank and we no longer offer this plan here at the dealership

Ally will not have access to GM records and the submission of claims by dealers may be not be transparent to the customer

Chevrolet Protection Plan (GMEPP) is a product of General Motors

Chevrolet Protection Plan (GMEPP) offers the same coverage as GMPP with this additional benefit: * Coverage for ride control suspension & shocks

Just don't do it... we have so many good shops here in Houston it's not worth it.

GM plans available from both Todd and Dennis.

I know Dennis sells other products because he sold a policy to a friend's daughter on a Toyota Highlander. They both work at dealerships that sell used cars, so I'd guess they both sell for other makes than GM.

Checking the Chevy page, the Platinum plan shows 5 year/60,000 mile at $3683.15! Kind of pricey.

Question is or does this warranty plan start at the end of the 3 year/36,000 factory warranty? And or would it start after the Extended Limited Warranty 5 yr/60,000 that they show available??

Best time to buy with no overlap is just before the 3 year, 36k ends.

I was hoping for some clarity as well. Does anybody know if the 5yr/60K is a new coverage policy that begins on the date you buy it and then continues for 5 yrs/60K, or is it instead just continuing the bumper to bumper coverage out to 5yrs from when you purchased the vehicle (thus extending bumper to bumper 2 yrs past the original factory warrantee)?

It's kind of confusing, but I'll try. Best thing is to contaact Dennis or Todd and let them walk you through the process via email or on the phone.

Original factory warranty is bumper to bumper is 3 years/36k miles. Powertrain is 5 year/60k miles. That begins on the vehicle's original in service date.

If you buy the GM extended warranty, it is effective 30 days and 1,000 miles after purchase.

Therefore, I was advised to purchase the extended warranty just prior (60-90 days) to the 3year/36k bumper to bumper original warranty expiration.

I lost no coverage that way (I did the 1,000 miles in about 45 days), and therefore I am covered, in my case, for 5 additional years, with 2 of those years still having the original 5year/60k powertrain coverage overlap.

I bought 5 years, 40k miles additional coverage for my 2017 Corvette Grand Sport from Todd at MacMulkin about a year ago. About $1300 total with 0 deductible.

Thanks for explaining. It's clearer now.

So if you one of your priorities is to extend the bumper to bumper without lapse, buy the warrantee just before original 36 month warrantee is up. If you are primarily concerned about powertrain and you intend to own a long time, then maybe purchase just before the original 5 yr expires.
