Question Wheels and Tires

What is the largest Wheel and tire combo we can put on a 2017 Camaro SS? I went to the strip last week and it spun 2/3s of the track. I don't think they did any prep since it was a test and tune day cus my last run it did slightly better but still too much spinning.

Really guys, no one has tried wider wheels and tires? After the Maggy I'm spinning 2/3s of the drag strip. I want wider wheels and tires but don't want to have to go to drag radials for my car since it's my daily driver.

Easy set up would be the zl1 set up, 11" in the back.

Unfortunately with the power level you have drag radials are a must.

You can run a 325/30 on 20x12 but more of a road course tire. Don’t think it’ll get you much in the 1/4.

For 1/4 get a drag radial on 17 or 18” wheels. And put them on when you go to the strip.

I’m running this setup and with 7lbs of boost and 700rwhp as long as there’s a little bit of heat in the road this thing hooks. It will break traction early in the morning or later in the evening if the road cools but it’s so much better with the R888R’s over my Goodyear supercar 3’s night and day. The R888R’s are so tacky almost sticky to the touch you can tell it’s an R rated tread compound. They’re pricey but the results are awesome if your looking to hook. Speaking only from driving out in town haven’t had it to the track yet.

That was my other question, will 18" wheels fit?? I'd like to put a 315/40 15r tire on the back.

18” skinnies will fit up front, that’s what I run. Out back, 17”x10” is perfectly fine. Slap some 305/45/17 MT ET Street R on them and hit the track hard. I hope you have a driveshaft safety loop.

You can literally also just put some 295/35/20 Nitto NT555R2 on the stock rear wheels too. I did that before I bought my drag pack and was able to get mid-10’s with a good bit less power than I’m making now. Also, if you want to run 15” rear wheels you’ll need to change out the stock rear brakes for something smaller.

Here’s my drag pack:

You will never be able to launch your car on "normal" street tires.

A good (and wide) pair at low pressures will no longer spin after the first 100-200 feet, but if you want a good ET, you need to nail the launch, and that means at least Nitto 555RIIs or Toyo R888Rs, or a straight up drag setup, similar to what Josh is rocking.

I had the Toyos, but sold them because of their monster truck whine. The next thing I'll try when the time comes will be these Nittos.

I agree with this as far as what to try. I’m going to get a pair of 17x10’s and run the 305/45 Nitto 555RIIs. They’ll work for me since I’m not FI. I also think they’ll be great to run on the street. I’m sure by the end of summer they’ll be toast.

I am running those with a set of 1LE MRRs on my m6 LT1. My best was 12.3 I think.

But when I was running the stock LT1 fronts with a 17" ET Streets 305s left over from my ZL1 I ran a number of 12.10s with that setup and was getting
a number of 12.1s and a number of mid 1.8 60s. My best run below with a 1.9 but with spot on shifting (rare for me )

I have also witnessed a stock A10 LT1 on stock tires run a couple of 11.8s.

On stock tires my M6 LT1 ran mid to high 12s.
