Tested this over several hundred miles.
Minor sanding of the cover has show no rubbing on the hood. This has been over approx 700 miles. Plenty of shenanigans, launches and hard turning etc. the pink nail Polish is untouched.

Hate to bump a thread, but is there a consensus on what bolts we should run with the LT2 manifold on our cars? I know the LT1 manifold bolts are GM (12575384) and they run a couple bucks each. I found the LT2 bolts after some digging, and it seems to be GM (11602425) but they are asking like $18 per bolt. Have the LT1 bolts held up fine for you guys in the long term?

Went to the track today to try the c8 lt2 cam timing. Seems promising and will get on a dyno to confirm if all or some picks up while using the lt2 intake manifold.

Yeah there’s a chance the manifold changes the pressure wave/ram effect and might be optimized with the the intake valve set to this timing. Fingers crossed

I'd be more curious on the bottom end of the table. The upper end is less advanced than stock Lt1 but that makes sense since the LT2 cam is slightly bigger. But looks as if they start advancing the cam way sooner then the LT1. Wonder if there is any low end gains to be had?

Yeah I can’t tell on the low end. It might be softer but the butt dyno isn’t reliable. The car 60ft better and ran 121.5 in the heat no skinnies. The time in the sig was much much better air. I believe the intake side of the lt2 cam is unchanged. The cam timing is different on the c7 vette, with the same engine as us, so I have to believe the exhaust manifolds does impact cam timing too. The l86 is different too but have a different intake. It would really be nice if we can find another tenth and mph here. I’m busy for the next 2 weeks but just quoted an hour of dyno time. I will try to get that to happen before the fall.

@kinglt1 or other tuning gurus, does more maf lb/min or deeper in the hz mean more hp when playing with cam timing? The ecm torque figures are showing 5+ more with the new cam timing but less lb/min and cylairmass at the lower rpm. Not sure if there’s anything reliable there

Something interesting that I noted in my Camaros OE tune file is that the manifold volume is listed as 13.42L (Speed Density>Dynamic Airflow tab). The official word from GM is the LT1's intake manifold volume is 11.1L and the LT2 is 14.1L. [I guess that calculation is considering the manifold plenum volume+intake manifold runners+runners to the valve] Last edited by Mountain; 08-01-2023 at 01:42 PM. |
