Prediction: The new "Z/28" will be an option package for the Camaro ZL1. So LT4 engine.

pure high road race car does not need a supercharger, needless weight, heat and complexity. 7 liter DI with improved heads and intake manifold maybe even a cross ram with tapered volume plenum.

Does it need 500 hp? Sure, moar = gooder ... but given how the GT350 performs in a straight line, a Z/28 with a little less weight and comparable power to the SS could be 'enough'. Of course, 'enough' isn't earth shattering ground breaking performance. But its usually sufficient to entertain a business case.

*does not apply to hp/L claims ... which are dumb

It needs enough to beat the GT350R by a wide enough margin to justify the, likely, higher price. It's likely the Z/28 will come in at a much higher MSRP, so it needs to offer performance that justifies that extra dollar.

I honestly don't care about beating the GT350R. I think that is a given. I want to beat GT3's, GTR's, and Ferrari's. I am close in my current Z/28...I want to beat them in my next one.

To all of you who claim to not hear S/C whine on the Z28 mule, I assume you must also believe the ZL1 is naturally aspirated. Face it the LT4 S/C doesn't scream very loud.

There's been one clip with possible blower whine. I'm not saying it isn't the LT4, because I think that's the most reasonable possibility, but I'm not so sure any more.

I think the Z/28 will sell better if it has same HP as ZL1.

I'm not saying it makes the 28 a better car, I'm just sayingn 99% of consumers go solely by HP....

look at HC.

I really don't care about Corvette's for a couple reasons. First, I just don't see that many at the track, especially the Z06's. It seems most people who buy the most track capable vettes do not take them to the track. Second, most Corvette guys who DO track their cars are actually pretty cool. Not sure if it is because we are both driving GM cars or what but my experience has been they are usually fun people. The import crowd however can be a different story. They tend to look down their noses at the Camaro so when I have a chance to put one behind me, I take great joy in doing so.
