Lobe seperation angle

Im thinking about upgrading my cam. Currently it is a 226/236 113lsa with 5* of overlap. For streetability purposes I do not want to go more than the 5* of overlap. So looking at cam specs, I can go with say a 231/239 on a 115lsa & by having the wider lsa I can stay at my 5 degree overlap. Does anyone run a cam such as the one I mentioned? I would like to hear your input. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if you’re absolutely set on the 5 degrees of overlap but when I was on the mild side mine had just shy of 10 degrees and was great on a driver. It was a 229/242 on a 113 with 5 degrees advance.

It had great drive ability with a pretty Stout low and midrange. Carried very well past peak. I shifted at 6900 which everyone said was too high but that’s what worked as far as track results

5* is very, very mild. Our "stage 1" LS3 cam has 6.5* of overlap. You can run that with a stock torque converter - it's super mild. The LS3 head needs more split than your 231/239 113 option. The intake side flows just amazing, the exhaust side is a bit more of a challenge, hence the split. Anywhere from 10-15* is probably where you want to be for a "moderate" cam - the larger splits tend to hang on better past the peak.

I'd consider something more like our stage 2 cam, which is a 228/240 on a 112+4. 10* overlap (at .050"). We could custom grind one on a 113 or 114 if you're really concerned with the overlap, but 10* with good tuning should drive very, very well.
