Looks like a red arrow to me.

On the real, though, did you check your weatherstripping to rule out rain/hose water? Have you tried wiping the fluid with a white paper towel to determine its color and consistency?

Pull the cover and see if there’s an issue underneath. As Elder asked, did it recently rain or did you wash the vehicle?

Also can't really tell from the pic, it's kinda fuzzy, but it almost looks like his rubber weather strip might be missing. That could allow some water to enter from the cowl area.

Just thought about this one too, the tubing from the windshield washer bottle runs just inside the front fender edge on the driver side and up to the squirters on the hood. Check the tubing for cracks or a possible pin hole maybe causing fluid to run down and deposit on the engine cover, or that one of them might of came loose. Just a thought.

Totally unrelated to this thread, but your post just reminded me: I need to check my windshield wiper container and hoses. I'm losing fluid, somewhere, but don't see any signs of leakage, below. Guess I can pull the tire and do an inspection this Sunday...

If I remember the stock mounting bracket that holds the squirters in place is a long flimsy piece and is clipped onto the underside of the hood above that general area and the hose goes into the end of the hood on that side and it could be leaking on the cover.

I just checked those hose ends, and they're dry as the Sahara. No signs of fluid on the underside along the frame, either. I guess I'll pull the tire and look behind the wheel well to see if it's dripping there and just not making it to the ground. Who knows. Maybe I'm just going insane in my older age and losing my mind...

Oh, and sorry for thread hijack, OP. Let us know what you find out about the fluid on your engine cover.

Yesterday my lifter tick became a lifter knock so I had it towed to a shop. I pulled off the engine cover and saw the right side of the engine was wet. I don’t think the two are related? Being that I still owe a shitload of money on the car, I guess I’m replacing the lifters. Still trying to decide if I should just go ahead and do an LS3 conversion +/- cam swap? Idk bc I live in California and was just told by a mechanic that next year mods will be illegal here? Idk how the hell they plan for that to work….but…. Any tips on how to find a shop that actually knows what they are doing and how to do this sort of work on these cars?

I would go ahead and do the conversion, I am not quite sure how they can tell as it is internal and can be tuned to run clean.

I think the problem will be that California will check and not allow anything but a stock tune.

Gotcha, So the inspection station has to plug in and check tune? That's crazy so what are all the guys supposed to do before this takes affect? Grand fathered in? Sell Car/ De tune.

Probably pay off an inspector. That's normal for a third world country.
