Dodge is also making a widebody Hellcat which will just bolt on the same bushwhacker flares, but use 305/20s all around to improve the handling and traction and still get spanked by the ZL1 on the road course. Agreed GM needs to step up the commercials. The Dodge Predators commercial is the best of all time. |

So the Demon is going to be like a COPO, not for the street but a straight forward NHRA factory drag car. My excitement has dropped even lower for it now.

How do we know this for sure, not speculation? I guess that could be possible as the V10 is now gone and the Hellcat barely passes emissions...

I'd be surprised if this is the case they already have the Drag Pack to fit the NHRA market.

Wow, I can't believe they would (or shall I say are) going to go that cheap ass route...

I think a street legal drag car that runs low 10s would be cool

Or the 800HP without a drastic change in engine design and the mention of a DR being sold on a factory street car. Either it's a Drag Pack not for street or someone is full of it.

I'd LOVE to see them throw a set of DOT DRs on this thing and put all this "stock tire" BS to rest.

Unfortunately Fiat would go bankrupt from the lawsuits due to idiots driving it in the rain, cold temps, or attempting to corner with a true set of DRs. Either that or they would have to ship a lengthy "how and when you can drive your new car" manual for those with too much money and not enough brains to understand DRs are not meant for "driving".

Funny thing is that I have seen prototype cars, to which I'm pretty sure is this "Demon" Challenger. They weren't super camo-ed or anything; easy to spot. Not much I can share. I can say, whatever I've seen has wheels/tires that stick out beyond the regular Challenger wheel wells and it sounded like a V8.

I make it a point not to drive either car in the rain, but have been caught in the Challenger coming home from ChallengerFest a time or two. No issues with the 555R and they even offer a non "R" version to run up front that has the same tread pattern so they match. Would be a fantastic tire for this solution. Bottom line, modern tire tech has allowed DRs to come a LONG way in the past few years so much so that tread wear is about the only down side, but looks like the "summer only" GY Eagle F1s don't last very long either. I'm at 5,000 miles or a little over on my 555R DRs on the Challenger with LOTS of WOT pounding and have 25% or so tread left. I've read folks get 8,000 - 10,000 miles from the GY Eagle F1s. |

I love the "can't turn" talking points that people who likely have never driven a Challenger vomit out because they read them on forums.
Are they corner carvers? No. Are they competent in the corners? Yes. |
