Reading through this very informative thread convinced me to order a custom marine cable detailed per the multiple responses here, and install it to the bolt on the sound enhancer bracket. Although I have never been stranded by the hot start issue, I sure have experienced the slow turnover and associated concern of "is my battery dying?".
Thanks to all for such a good thread. |

Still going strong, and it’s time for summer time testing.

Mine has now been tested many times on several hot days here in Sacramento. This 100% fixed my slow start when hot. Thank you to everyone on the forum.

I think this is the first V6 post on the thread. I used an existing grounding location for some wiring harness that’s in the perfect location to rout to the grounding lug. This spot looks like it’s used as a tensioner mount on some other variation of this engine.
I didn’t realize how massive a 1/0 cable is, but that’s what I ordered. 21” is almost perfect. 20” or maybe 19” would have been better to avoid rubbing on the computer gizmo under the fuse box, but I got the dual jacketed cable form batterycablesusa.com, so it should last for a decade or two. According to advanced (and the dash notification), my battery is shot… I think 11.5 when off. My starter tested good (10.67V), but the fella said that from his experience its cranking voltage was on the lower end. Hopefully it’s fine. The engine cranks like a beast after doing this though. Have had a couple hot starts and is flawless. |

You're welcome . This is where the levels should be (top surge tank chamber 100% full, bottom chamber at about 40-50%):

Interesting. I’ve seen a non-pressurized overflow tank, and a reservoir attached to the lower hose and is above the rest of the system that the coolant level stays high enough to keep the system full. But I’ve never seen whatever this is.
Edit: Additional question. I assume I use dexcool. I’ve heard of it referred to as dexkill. Are there any coolant threads on here with recommendations on what to use? Last edited by Blobby; 06-12-2021 at 01:33 PM. |

Is there a write up somewhere on where this ground cable goes?
The real test may be in July/august... |

3/8 for both ends seemed to be perfect. The bolts took a 15mm wrench. I didn’t have to do any mods to get them in. Both locations I used were dedicated electrical points so no risk of anything falling apart.
