Wireless charging pad
This pad seems to be to small to work properly
With any newer iPhone which has a case, doesn’t Lay flat on pad for it to charge, any thoughts On this? PS larger iPhones,6plus on up with Otter box case. |

Its useless as far as I can tell. Some one else trimmed some of the rubber to get their phone to lay more flat and think it works for him. Otherwise for me the location just isn't too practical.

I really wish someone that had the ability to 3D print took this on. Print a larger cradle that mounts after you remove the rubber pad then the installer can just move the charging base inside the consul up and underneath the new larger printed base.

It seems that this charging pad only accepts the smaller iPhones, which is 6.1”
Compared to the larger, which is 6.7”…..GM really screwed up on this!!! Charging pad is useless!!!! The pad measures only 5 5/8” !! To small for even The smaller iPhones!!!! Last edited by Drnick; 05-11-2023 at 07:59 AM. |

Imagine how much richer you would be if you sold exclamation points... That said, the wireless charging pad is an old 2015 design, and indeed GM could've anticipated larger phone screens. Newer GM trucks and SUVs have a more spacious design, unfortunately the Camaro is the read headed stepchild and did not receive this in later model years.
At least they upgraded the charging module, though, so electrically it is capable of working with newer phones. I'm the one that trimmed the rubber mat, below is how. Other than that, the plastic ridges at the edges of the tray can also be trimmed, but there is an obvious physical limitation, frying pan sized phones will not work.

Never used it, even though my phone is wireless charging capable.
I just plug in a cable in the center console, plug it in the phone and set it cup holders or next to the gear selector (since I have an A10). Even if my phone did fit into it, I still wouldn't use it since it's basically in the rear passenger compartment. |

It's in a stupid location to begin with. One corner and the phone will be in the rear passenger footwell. Never to be used by me. And not even close to fitting a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

I plug my phone in and put it on that pad because it's out of the way then. Wireless charging sucks if you use a beefy phone case anyway.

Works with the mods you’ve done with the tray? |

I took out the rubber layer all together, put a piece of foam to center my phone. Then threw everything to garbage because this charger cannot keep up with Android Auto power consumption and now just use wired cigarette lighter wired charger... Good luck I guess

Only thing more worthless than this is the 100mA rated AC line plug in my 2016 Silverado.

Then again, I did upgrade the wireless charging module to this one that has higher charging rates and works with newer phones: 84526978. Apparently it's no longer sold by online GM parts vendors (it was removed from the product catalog), but I'm not surprised, this is GM after all... Look guys, I understand the frustration, this charger design is pretty shortsighted, but if someone really wants to make it work and is willing to go with a smaller phone, it's actually very nice, especially in wireless mode.
