Drag wheels

What are the cheapest set of rims I can buy for the rear of my Camaro? What is the smallest diameter? Can I get away with a 17 inch wheel? Are 15 inch wheels possible on the rear? That would be awesome! Obviously, I'm looking to get a spare pair or rear wheels to mount drag radials.

I was checking this out on tirerack. 17" was the smallest I could go with the standard brake package. if you have the brembos you might be limited to 18" smallest.

I really want a sweet set of OZ racing rims. sooo light, like 17lbs a rim. also $1500 a rim lol

I have the standard brake package. Have you looked into Weld Racing wheels? I'm a big fan of their stuff, and have run several sets of their wheels with no issues.

Was quoted $12500 for forged magnesium wheels not happening, thought they might be cheap compared to carbon fiber... Not so much...

What size/style of OZ wheels were around 17lbs?

I see similar C5 vette wheels with that offset on craigslist in my area for about 50$ If I remember right, the 17"s only weighed around 22lbs?
Yeah, but he is running 18's, and I'm pretty sure the LT cars have smaller rear calipers than the SS cars. I'm hoping to run a 15!

I don't think you can get away with a 15". I think a 16" weld will fit in the rear with the standard brakes, 17" w/ brembo.

Damn that's pricey! The 17lbers I think were the 18" set... There are some cheaper light weights out there ... Built in China tho so I have my doubts about them.. Only 350 a wheel tho

The problem with Tire Rack, and other companies sites is that you can't specify just rear wheels. So they show you wheels that will clear the front brakes, which are obviously bigger than the rears.

I have 3 sets of wheels for my 4th gen I can try. Offset is obviously different, but if it works it works. I have the standard brakes. But I have a weld S71 RTS 15", some stock 16" wheels, and also 17" and 18" from a staggered set. I can try some this weekend to find out for sure.

Not much help but I have used a set of 08 g8 gt stock 18x8 wheels, the offset is good, maybe research whatever fits an g8 and add it to a list of possibilities?

I used to have a set of 18x9.5 vette grand sport wheels, I might still have them somewhere if I do I need to try them on my 6th gen, they were +40 offset, weigh 23lbs each

That is awesome. I'd really appreciate if you could try them out, specifically the Welds!

I'm reeeeally hoping they fit If they do then my skinnies will be going on the front too, and I'll be hitting the track. Not optimistic though, as I had to grind the 4th gen brakes down a bit just to make them work. But you never know until you try I suppose. Imagine this meat on our little 4 bangers!

That is odd. I didn't have to grind the brakes at all on my 4th gen when running the Weld RT-S wheels, front or rear.

Looks like he had an SS with that spoiler. Were they different size brakes?
