when i grew up i drooled at z28 and ss396 that was it. i didnt want a rs or basemodel camaro, chevy II nova, chevelle. gimme a real z28 (not the shit 4th gen one)WITH air conditioning and I am sold. give me an ss with a badass n/a engine and i am sold. hell i would be cool with th z28 having th lt1 for the weight to horsepower ratio. i think the block is close to 1 to 1 could be wrong forgot the exact weight of the block. give the ss the ls7...such a wicked engine. not many people have driven on it really is a joy.
or even the opposite.. lt1 ss and ls7 z28 i dont care. would be harder to make the z28 weigh less with the ls7 tho. 8 and 7 speed transmissions yes please!!!! heck maybe gm can ditch the federal gov stock shares by then and continue their work on the dual clutch auto they had going before the buyout. excellent convo hope it keeps going, i love talking cars with true enthusiasts. |

Honestly, I think the 2.0L turbo should be at least competitve in the HP rating like the Subaru WRX/Sti 4 banger or the Mitsubishi Evo with around 300-310(i'm aware they aren't in the same category)... The Saturn Sky RedLine and Pontiac Solstice GXP had around 260-270hp 5 years ago, I would hope they could improve on that since then... 300HP should be the target for the 6th Gen Camaro if the base is a 4 banger...

Turbo engines have great potential for fuel economy. I would think (IMHO) that the base model would be tailored for mpg (within reason)...much like the 2LS is, now. If they stayed conservative on the tuning for mpg...I could definitely see a base turbo-4 Camaro with 272hp and 33mpg hwy. Even then, that car would still perform much better than even the current V6 does. |

Exactly, the SS shares the LT1 with the C7, the Z28 will likely have the new Z06 engine and the ZL1 will share the mew ZR1 engine. This just seams like the most logical lineup imo. They can still have a 1LE option for the SS if they want to or they can cut it out...would be nice to offer because not everyone can afford the Z28.
