Drive in

Any experience with running the radio too long? I haven't been to a drive in theater for over 20 years.

If you have the radio on but the engine off the radio will turn off automatically after about 10 minutes to protect the battery.

I do know if you hold the button for like 10 seconds the radio will stay on longer than a few minutes. I do it when I am cleaning the car, but I don't know for how long. What I am wondering is if the battery can survive a movie before there not being enough amperage to start the car.

I guess another question is the low windshield being an issue. I can't think of any car that I've ever had having such a low windshield. Sometimes I accidently smack the sun visor even when its up. I've never done that in any other car.

Bring a am-fm portable radio with you, and lower the seat then the window shouldn’t be a problem.

Does the drive in not have the old school speakers you hang on the window? Our drive in before it closed still had the speakers or you could tune into the local am/fm channel.

The poster that mentioned bringing a portable radio, that is a brilliant idea

Hold the start button for about 5 seconds or so and the radio will stay on. I did it shortly after I first bought the car. Watched The Jungle Book.

Hold the radio's volume/power button for a couple seconds to power radio only. The radio will stay on and will allow you to open doors without sounding the door chime.

I’ve been seeing several movies at the drive in cinema. I have only watched a single movie each time, not the double features that you have in the states. I haven’t had any issues. Didn’t know you could hold the button, it has been a little annoying that you have to turn it on again every few minutes. Will definitely do that next time.
