Got into an accident today :(
Was driving home from work and some idiot jumped out in front of me. Long story short he got the ticket. Probably hit him at around 30-35mph so the camaro definitely held up. Obviously I want the car to be totaled out. What do you guys think? there was coolant leaking heavily and the frame by the hood may be damaged.
Edit: pictures are rotated, not sure how to fix. |

Hope you and everyone is o.k
Sad to see this. Yup. I would get it written off. Door. Fender. Hood. Bumper. Frame. All the air bags..... I got a quote of close to 2k just for my fender. I wouldn't want to drive a car that was damaged like yours. Ouch.

He has state farm and I have USAA. Both good insurance companies. How would I fight to get it written off if they are giving me trouble totaling it out? Obviously don't want to get my insurance involved since I'm not at fault but if need by they'll need to fight for me.

That sucks! Glad you're OK. People are idiots. They don't pay attention while driving. They don't realize that driving a 3000, 4000, 5000+ lbs of rolling pieces of metal is serious business and should require all of their attention.

Man that hurts!!! Most important thing was you were not injured and glad the idiot driver was citied. From the pictures, the frame doesn't look badly damaged. More than likely it will be repaired than having it totaled. Best of luck to you and it can only get better from here.....

if the cost to fix is less than the value of the car then they will fix it. use your insurance to manage the claim.. they will work with state farm. |

I'm going with about 18-20k in damage. One little quarter panel dent for me was 3k, bs this is only 3.5x that.

Sorry, man, hate seeing these things gooned up like this.
Others here have been worse and repaired so I wouldn't be surprised if they fix it.

Thanks people. There's definitely some damage not seen to the eye. So let's see what happens with that. Also can I make a diminished value claim if it does get repaired?

Thank you. Not sure how to determine officially "who's fault" it is. He was cited and he did run out and try to cross the intersection without looking.

He was the one that got cited so that determined who was at fault. Only thing to do now is have the car examined and see what repairs are going to be made. I'm with you on hoping it gets totaled but from the looks of it, there was minimal damage as far as structural damage.
