Headliner not mounting correctly

So one of my car's other issue that was found by my salesman before I took delivery was the headliner. At the top of the rear window the headliner doesn't meet together very well. I was clearly able to see the metal roof and the underside of the headliner padding as it drooped down.

The dealer agreed it wasn't right compared to another 2SS they just got in and ordered a replacement headliner as they couldn't get the one in the car to fit right.

Now the worry in me is ramping up... as my car is now the first to get this replaced and no one at the dealer has any clue of how to do this.

I wouldn't worry. As long as it's a good dealership you trust with competent mechanics you'll be fine. I was nervous last month when I had to have my fuel level sensor replaced. Everything has been perfect since though. Now I have to have my NPP replaced and touchscreen replaced. Just waiting on the parts to arrive. How do you think I feel! Lol

Geez, Unfortunately being an early adapter, comes with it issues. Once interior trim pieces are taken off, they never fit as tight as they used too. I would be concerned. Sure it will look good. But I would expect rattles and such sooner than later.

Sledge, would you provide a follow up on your original post. Have had my SS for 2 months now and am beginning to see some slight sag in the headliner but on the front window. Hoping for some form of a fix other than ripping out the headliner and replacing it.

Same here, my passenger sags a bit lower than the driver side at the front windshield. Not sure if the dealer can fix it, if they do they will have to order another headline that bends more than the current one i have.

Not sure if it's worth the headache to have the dealer do it unless they are really good.

when you pick up your car after the headliner. Make sure your Onstar mirror and your dome lights/mirror lights still work.

As my dealer suggested, you probably will want to wait 6-12 months before getting it replaced. It will still be under warranty and there is a better chance that they will have a new batch that is cut correctly. It's pointless to keep ordering new headliners if they are from the same supplier and cut incorrectly. Give it some time to flush out those old ones.
