What R Compound/Track Tire will fit the Gen 6 wheels? and what tire will you pick?

Wait till we know what size wheel fits over the 6 piston brakes, then possibly go with a 18 or 19" wheel tire combo

It looks like a few 20 inch DOT-R compound tires are available from Continental, Dunlop, Michelin and Pirelli. The front 20 x 8.5 could probably take a 255/35 or 265/35 and the rear 20 x9.5 wheel as the widest factory wheel available, a 295/30 looks to be feasible.
If you're looking at the stock wheels, only the 18 inch standard LT wheel would have the much liked Hoosier A6/A7 or R6/R7 R-compound available. |

More and more r compound for 20s. R888 and NT01 are options in addition to some brands named carrying a r compound
Easy solve for fifth gen was run 4 rear wheels for the r compound.

Are you really stuck on having R-comps? The new 140 or 200 treadwear ultra high performance tires are pretty damn good. The Bridgestone RE-71R is great. The 20" size is a challenge, but like others have pointed out, a 19" wheel for track use is a great idea, and you can go with a different width.
I plan to run my car in SCCA street class, but I'm waiting until/if the 1LE is announced. I'll probably go down an inch in diameter if they stick with 20"ers on that variant. Last edited by BigEnos; 08-03-2015 at 11:37 AM. |
