Third Battery In 4 Years, 42000 Miles

Frustrating to drive this car one day with no problems. 2 days later get in and no start, won't even attempt to crank. Got a Onstar "Diagnostic Alert" that the battery is critically low and to start vehicle to charge while trying to start the car. Put a battery tester directly on the battery and it didn't even have enough power to run the tester, Midtronics PBT300. Wouldn't even jump start. Talked to a GM technician friend of mine and he said it sounded like the battery and it took care of everything. The original lasted only 22 months and this a little over 2 years, both were ACDelco. The kicker is I am a supplier of ACDelco batteries in northeast Indiana for GM Dealers. Didn't put ACDelco back in this time. Went with Motorcraft and we'll see what happens. I have never seen a battery as dead as this one. Not to crazy about this AGM technology!

Mine was a January 2016 build, sold March 2016. Only at 30K miles but still on the original battery. If nothing comes up I plan on changing it out regardless before next winter.

Have you done any mods to the car involving the electrical system, even minor ones? Something small like switching OEM bulbs to LEDs might keep waking the BCM module and cause battery drain.

You can check for a parasitic battery drain by disconnecting your negative ground cable. Use a multimeter to link between the ground cable and the negative battery post. If the meter reads current flowing, you have a parasitic battery drain.

Next go to the fuse box. Starting with the 5A fuses, pull each one individually and check the multimeter. When the current drops, you have found the circuit causing the battery drain.
