2000 SS Camaro Vs. 17 Turbo 4 banger Camaro.
Not sure of the 4 bangers hp, but a stock 2000 was rated at 305hp.
I wonder how a 6 banger would stack up to the 2000. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=GoyYaM3ZhB0 |

what are you trying to compare? stock auto ls1 cars should trap 105ish and stick cars 107ish. the 4th gen car is like a time machine in a bad way. i had three 4th gen cars, id still take a 20 year old v8 over a new v6.

I have a stock 94 trans am lt1 auto and a 17 camaro 2.0t manual with a few bolt ons. The camaro is noticeably faster and the chassis is sooo much better.

Stock to stock I'd expect the LS1 to win here, but I'm surprised that turbo 4 with a tune wasn't a closer race. After owning a stock LS1 Z28 and now my stock 18 RS V6, I truly believe those two would be a very tight race

This was my previous car. Stalled,342 geared, auto, tune, 4th gen.
My current 4 banger, basically tune only, would pull on it till 110ish.. No doubt on that.

im gonna go out on a limb and say there’s something wrong with that lsjuan. i doubt the turbo 4 runs 7.7s in the 1/8.

Expected result considering LS1 has +45hp and +50 lb-ft torque over the 2.0, factor in the f-body LS1 was underrated and those numbers get even larger

Exactly. A lot people go by what the manufacturer rating was and GM underrated the hell out of those cars because they couldn't have the f bodies making as much power as the Corvette when in reality they did and usually dynoed more because of the Corvette's transaxle vs the f bodie's solid rear. Multiple stock f bodies have gone high 12s multiple times and I always chuckle at people who think these new V6 and turbo 4s are faster than a stock LS1 based upon nothing but what GM said.

motor trend dyno'd an ls1 Z28 in 1998. it was actually about 330hp not 305. they just underrated it because of the Corvette. the Corvette had a slightly different cam, but that was only about 10HP.
the current turbo 4 has 0-60 and quarter mile times comparable to the 90s LT1 the 6cyl is pretty much on top of the LS1. |

At a local dyno day a stock LS1 WS6 made 302 rwhp, and a 16 V6 made 293 rwhp. Both manuals and both bone stock on the same dyno and same day. That kind of surprised me a bit

The underrated power figures were the worst kept secret back then. We all just accepted that GM did it and moved on. It was funny because guys in Mustang forums would always complain about getting spanked by a Camaro or Firebird with 305 hp. Inevitably, a slew of other Mustang guys would chime in about how the F-bodies are severely underrated.

My stock 98 LS1 WS6 M6 did 13.3 in the quarter if that helps. The 2002's had more hp due to revised intake.

Just based on seat of the pants feeling, my old 2000 Z28 was closer to my current 16 SS than the one turbo 4 I got to drive. But could be that the sound gives a greater sense of speed.
