MBRP Car Back to Kooks Headers Mid pipe Question

Hi all,

I currently have Kooks headers with the catless connection pipes (deletes primary and secondary cats). The connection pipes are 3inch diameter. I am interested in the MBRP Cat Back race series exhaust. I was wondering if anyone has done this combination and if so how they were able to fit it. I called MBRP and they told me the part of the pipe in their catback that was meant to connect to the stock system was made to fit the stock section which measures 2 2\3 inch diameter pipe. They are not sure if it would work without significant modification. Any advise or experience would be greatly appreciated.

You may need to cut the 2 3/4" MBRP section and have someone weld the Kooks connection pipe to the MBRP. It's not going to be a straight forward bolt on installation. I can tell you it's going to be stupid loud, as in too loud. You're basically running straight pipes from the motor to the exhaust tips.

So maybe just get the axle back?

I don't think it would be a bad idea to start with that (for fitment purposes). I've heard the MBRP race without secondary cats and it was loud as hell. I couldn't even imagine adding headers and getting rid of the primary cats.

What about the Hokker short tube headers with no secondaries?

I have kooks headers and off road connections. The mbrp race system bolted up perfect no issues.

I know others who have done it as well.

Your kooks connection pipes taper down to fit the stock exhaust. Which is just under 3 inches as well

Thread a made after the install

Odd after all this time they still don’t know this information. Wonder how many sales they have lost not telling people this.

I just don't like the 409 S.S. Had 409 S.S. muffler before & within a month it had rust on it. I prefer all my exhaust system to be made of 304 S.S.

Thank you!! Do you happen to have any video of how it sounds since you have the exact setup I have. Also, how did you take care of the AFM? Did you tune it out?

UltraZLS1, did your MBRP exhaust come with the tailpipes and tips coated black?
