Does anyone know the Cd of the 2019 Camaro SS 1LE? Any Cd numbers for the 6th Generation?

One thing that I was expecting to be better is the MPH that you would get with 400 RWHP. At the top of 4th gear and into 5th the 1LE just doesn't have the speed I was expecting. I think the front radiator opening/splitter just creates a ton of drag. No science, just personal observation. My 165 RWHP Lotus would run up to 120 MPH fairly quickly before slowing from aero and its coefficient of drag was terrible, frontal area excellent, though. The 1LE seems to slow at about 130 MPH.

I noticed mine really started to slow after the shift to 5th at 140. Still hit 167 before I had to let off. Not the fastest I've gone, but the fastest I've gone in my own vehicle.

That might be a bit more gear ratio dependent rather than sheer power. Granted, with more power, the more you can overcome with that but, your gearing will always play a factor in acceleration.

Drag Coefficient in the 6th gen Camaro is an interesting conversation.

One must consider, especially with ZL1 and the LT4 cooling needs; does the drag increase for cooling vs. the power generated, override the streamline loss?

When you double speed, drag increases by 4X and required HP increases by 8X. From an earlier thread.
LS/LT: 149
V6 1LE: 155
SS Vert: 155
SS 1LE: 175
SS Coupe: 180
ZL1 Coupe: 198

The 1LE has more drag than the standard SS due to wider tires and probably more drag to generate some additional downforce. (or to negate lift)

HP requirement does not go 8x (fold) otherwise the Bugatti would need 3k+ hp to reach 253 miles per hour. It only takes around 600-700 hp to the wheels for most 3500-4000 pound vehicles with the right gearing to go 200mph.

Weight becomes fairly meaningless for top speed runs- it's almost entirely down to horsepower, gearing (although gearing not so much on these cars since the power band is basically a table), drag coefficient and frontal area (drag area).

I've never seen any published Cd. figures for any 6th gen Camaro (probably because it's not very good). An E60 M5 with only slightly more power (~425-450whp depending on the dyno) and a .31 drag coefficient can comfortably break the 200mph barrier but a ZL1 with an additional ~120whp can't.

Yes, if it takes 100 hp to go 100 mph, that same car will require 800hp to reach 200 mph.

I'm a degreed engineer so tell me again your credentials. Better yet, feel free to share the equation you are using. Lets look at the a couple of Camaros.
From published data.
1LE has a top speed of 175 mph with 455 hp,
ZL1 has a top speed of 198 mph with 650 hp.
LS/LT has a top speed of 149 with 275 hp

(V1/V2)^3 = HP1/HP2

(175/198)^3 X 650 = HP1 HP1 comes to 449 calculated (vs 455 actual)

Using the same equation for the LS/LT, 275 HP
(149/175)^3 X 455 = HP1 HP1 comes to 281 calculated (vs 275 actual)

There are some aero differences. Suffice to say that the small difference in calculated HP shows the equations are correct.

Using the above, for the Camaro to reach 253 would require 1375 HP.
