Yeah, that's the same motor in my Colorado.....NOT the new Camaro 3.6. And probably no where near the potential. Do a tune and you'll be happier! Mine is great with the Diablo 93 tune...

Requires Premium, that's 91 for my location. The user manual states not to use anything else.

On 93 u can feel the gears bang harder when they change so definitely bit more power and throttle response. On premium I get better milage

I have only used premium and can reach 25-28 mpg. Computer read 35mpg while in cruise control in 6th gear.

All you're doing is pissing money away. As far as the ECM is concerned, there is absolutely no difference between 87 and 89. It will run exactly the same and get the same fuel mileage because 89 will not be enough to push it off the 87 fuel map.

You will need to step up to 93 for it move to a higher octane fuel map to get better performance and fuel mileage.

And it doesn't 'get by' with 87. 87 is what it was initially designed for and does quite well with it. All of my highest fuel mileage trips in my 1LT V6 was done on 87 and some of those exceeded 40 MPG.

Maybe my 1LT V6 RS isn't broken in quite yet but I've never gotten an average MPG of 40. I run 87 fuel and have never gotten better than 34 MPG.

I also never really averaged 40 MPG on daily trips, those pulls were all on long road trips.

On my daily commute I got between 27 and 31 80% steeet and 20% highway, and when I was all highway around Atlanta I got between 35 - 37.

The EPA sticker numbers on the V6 cars are underrated and many people believe that SS's get about the same fuel mileage as the V6 models. They are wrong. on average and similar commutes / driving style my V6 got about 8 - 9 MPG more than my current SS.
