Recall camaro

anyone do their recall yet for the 2016-2018 power steering assist? Unfortunately it affects my camaro...never had any problems with my camaro. my car runs great! I have never personally dealt with a recall before on any car that I have owned...is this bad? what happens if I go to the dealer and they screw up my car? how hard is this to fix? kind of nervous...can I ignore a recall? do I have to do it? any help/advice from camaro forum would be greatly appreciated...

It’s no different than having any other repair done.

takes about 4 hours. I couldn't even tell they did anything except for the big grease print on the trunk from unhooking the battery.

Not sure if your recall for Electric Power Steering is the same as my 2017 Camaro.

There isn't a remedy yet for mine. More details were posted on the NHTSA website today:

If your car has the takata air bag recall take it to the dealer to fix it, is a very unsafe issue

If you're worried about them damaging your car get a little camera from Walmart, install it in the car, have it on the entire time, after you get then car back, return the camera. Also, you can either note everything down about your car and/or take pictures of your car before and after. Find a dealership that has a good rep, and go to them. My rule of thumb is never to ignore a recall.

Its really about time GM owned up to this. It was a very dangerous issue.

Here's a question....

I had a long run-around with GM to get this issue fixed and it ended with them replacing the steering rack. Technically they haven't confirmed my vehicle to be effected yet BUT...if they did...should I get it fixed twice?

The new recall is apparently about power assist failing. So weak low speed steering assist. Not a huge deal really. Unless it can fail in other ways not mentioned in the press.

I thought the recall was for a bolt swap due to potential failure from corrosion. if the bolts are badly corroded it may require replacing the whole unit. Otherwise you get new bolts and they apply "sealant" in the area.

https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...eering-failure

pretty sure the bolt thing is a completely separate matter that may or may not be elevated to a recall yet.
