INTERESTING: I spoke to the shop yesterday and they said they checked codes on the car and the only code was the automatic seat belt tensioner. He said they cleared it and there were no others. He said it was normal for them to smoke when deployed...REALLY? I doubt that very much! Is it also normal for it to totally drain the battery as well? The smell was definitely burned wires. I was a professional electrician for 17 years...I know the smell.

Anyway...it's time to start looking for a replacement car in earnest!!!
Glad it all worked out!

Just an FYI, there are new 2018 ZL1 1LE's marked down to the high 50's!

They estimated the damage at $17k without thoroughly testing the electrical systems. I don't think they could start the car.

I would be more concerned about future neck/spinal issues. My wife was involved in a very similar accident - she was in a Toyota Avalon. She initially thought she was just sore from the impact but ended up having to have neck surgery. She's ok but her neck will never be 100%.

I am concerned about that since my neck seems to be more painful than just a sprain would indicate. Problem is, I have been so healthy all my life that I don't know how to determine how I should feel aside from seeing the doctors.

I purchased a new 2018 out of Ohio last week for ~$36,500, so they are out there. Good luck finding something new.

You're glad it was totaled, right? I know I would be. With that much damage, I doubt it would ever be 100% right again.

15% off 2018 leftovers now! A brand new 1LE in the $30s. 2SS 1LE w/PDR low $40s. I think the price is good nationwide until Apr.

I'd be happy for a Total...especially on a new car that is easily replaceable. A ZL1 1LE is would I'd move up to...seems like the OP mentioned plans to modify his current ride - why not buy factory upgrade?
