I love the sound of my Solo under moderate to heavy throttle, but at idle, it's sooo quiet. Cold start sounds real good, though. High flow cats will definitely liven up the exhaust note, but idle was still quiet (at least on my setup). If you plan on getting LTs in the future, don't bother with the high flows because the LTs will come with their own. I put my Solo cats on a few months ago, but then decided to do LTs, so off they went. They're for sale in the parts section of anyone is interested.

My headers were a little quieter than my SOLO's eveywhere except for WOT. Even the LS shop noticed when they did the initial install. Then when I had them removed, the difference was confirmed. I'm guessing it's the may the difference between the L99 and LS3 or combination of other bolt-ons.

Since you were asking about one brand of HFC versus another. If you ever have an issue with SOLO's you can talk to the owner directly or one of his vendors. The customer service is great.

I hope you guys are still around because I need a comeback on this thread haha!!! If I get the Mach XL or Magnaflow competition series catback my next step would be to go either LT headers or High flow cats right? You cannot run both? I am assuming they both require a tune and LT headers give more power?

Sorry for the dumb question but would really appreciate some input, especially since you guys are running these systems.

You can get HF cats and get away with not tuning. Worst case scenario... you have a few CELs from the rear O2 sensors. Many have no CELs with HF cat midpipes. I don't have LTs, but I understand that you can expect a CEL if you do those without tuning.

I also noticed that after the Fastlane intake and the Solo HF cats, my car didn't show a CEL, but it behaved weird at WOT with traction control and stabilitrac on. I attribute this to adding up "no tune" mods. Eventually you're bound to cross the line somewhere and your car will let you know. It wasn't terrible, I just turned the traction control off every time I got into the car and the problem disappeared.

If you're going for power, you don't have to pass fascist inspections, and you're going to tune... get long tubes. They are the better value in the long run. With that being said, I was very happy with the performance gains from the Solo midpipes with no tune.

It's up to you.

::EDIT::

And you can run both... but not how you're thinking. You can get long tubes WITH high flow cats. They are a little more expensive. When they call them "off road" on the websites, that means they don't have cats.

I have had my Solo High Flow Cats on now for about 7,000 miles with no codes or problems whatsoever ! Not tuned either! Easy install that I installed myself! Really woke the exhaust up with the 3" B&B Catback!

It obviously had to be the Solos… since nobody ever has anything negative to say about the product? Man put it out there; is this forum for the Camaro owner, or for the vendors! If they went bad and Solo took care of you then thats great… so no need to feel bad about telling the truth. But if they didn't, the Camaro community needs to know!?! Either way, this forum is supposed to be for "US"! I'm just sayin'… Aint no need in being scared?

I used to get an occasional CEL with my Solo High Flow Cats from 1 bank when it was below 45f.

Now I am getting the CEL ever time I drive the car...does that mean the CATS are going bad?
