Finally installed - Maggie 2650 on completely stock a10 21 ZL1

Took a few weeks for me to get everything put together and receive the parts but its all installed and running. Here are the details.

My 21 a10 ZL1 is completely stock except for the normal rotofab. Not the big gulp. I got the kit from TSP motorsports. Normal price, came with the 90mm pully and all the hardware to bolt up to a completely stock car including the canned tune from Magnuson.

Everything went on as expected. I had a shop do the install. They said it was very smooth install. Directions were good. Had metal shop shave the valve covers. Those came out awesome. Blower went on and all seems to be well.

The Magnuson canned tune is a bit...rich. 11.3 AFR across the board. Not much timing in it as well they are saying. Car made 590rwhp on a dynojet here in FL. Running 93 and the rotofab installed with the maggie.

Not blow your skirt up numbers, but the car is completely stock otherwise. No mods, no headers nothing. Just the maggie, rotofab (non bg) and the maggie canned tune. 90mm pulley installed and stock upper.

I also had the 6510 colder NGK plugs installed gapped to .030. The stop owner drove it and said it was super smooth on the road, just like stock.

On the dyno it would jump to 9psi at tip-in at 2k rpm then ramp up to 14psi and carry that to redline.

Now I guess its time for a real tune. Only problem I dont have a wideband installed. Wasnt planning on doing that either, not for a while.

Congrats on getting that done. I think it’s an understatement to say you have a *lot* of untapped potential power there. I will also say it’s easy to get carried away…

Edit: obligatory mention to fill your coolant reservoir.

I would recommend that especially if you have HPT, then you can log some street or strip runs. You can tune it on the dyno but that doesn't mean its where you need to be on the street. I've been thru all this with the Magnuson products from the 2300 to the 2650 on my 16 SS and now with the 2300 and toohighpsi PI on my new 2022 Camaro Lt1. The potential is for sure endless and your check book and mindset will only set the limit of the 2650.

Congrats on the install! This is my next mod coming up in the winter.

Do you have any plans of adding LTs? If so, which ones would you go with? I just recently bought CSP 2” LTs with their ultra high flow cats

Looks great! Did you do a baseline dyno? That seems low for a dynojet and 14psi IMO. How does it perform on the butt dyno?

That's because he's running terribly rich. He'll pick up 40-60hp just by tuning to 12.0-12.4 AFR.

He's looking at 650rwhp with a AFR tune and maybe 680rwhp with some timing advance thrown in.

That's a lot of blower for a stock car, hopefully you got bigger plans later down the road.

oh I sure wil. Not to mention this is really the end goal for all of us eventually. And Im notorious for getting a new car and doing all the beginning mods then having to take them all off, and get the more expensive mods then taking them all of and so on. So why not get the big one first so I dont have to later. I was setup to do about $7k worth of work with headers, lower porting, ECM/TCM tuning and so on. It was my normal path. So I decided to put all that to the side and just get the maggie lol. I will get headers and so on later, but I wanted this for the cooling upgrade it brings along with the 100hp it should bring.

I do plan on getting it properly tuned here soon seeing how rich it is. Its VERY rich. Once its properly tuned, it should be 650 to the tire as stated above.

Im going to get it today from the shop that did the install. I cant wait to see how this thing drives. My hopes are high but with it making such low numbers Im sure its just going to feel like stock...lol. For now.

Please let us know what your numbers would be at the wheels after it gets a proper tune with all other components being stock (well apart from rotofab). I’m on the fence for getting maggie and if it gets you to ~650 whp on 93 in Florida heat, consider me sold.
Also if you do get a dyno printout after tune, please post it here for us to study. Thanks for a great thread!

P.S. Why do you need to go for colder plugs btw?

Colder plugs were recommended by several people. Not sure I dont know the technical specs as to why.

Got the car home, drove it 70 miles in the florida 94* heat all highway. I RIPPED ON IT. Like pull after pull from 70-140. The car didnt skip a beat. In all fairness it feels softer off the tip in than stock because of how it build boost, but man it pulls straight to redline.

Its "almost" like having a procharger or vortech how it builds boost. Im seeing about 2psi more than stock and I can feel it pulls harder. Just softer initially. But very strong with no fall off like stock.

I can. It stayed rock steady at 200* and everything seemed very well installed. Very classy looking and if not for the Magnuson name plates (which you can remove), it would look very similar to stock, just bigger.

I already tapped Ted at Jannetty to do a custom remote tune for me. The shop that did the install was a buddies shop from my hellcat days. He does normally only hellcat work. But they do it all, build motors and mods and dyno tuning. Just never tuned GM. But they were nice enough to do the install for me for literally HALF what the other GM shops wanted. $1200 installed...yeah. Lowest before that was $2700 - no tune.

So Im going back to his shop next week to put it back on the dyno to do the WOT logs for Ted to get it dialed in. We are hoping for 650. This morning they ran it again after it had cooled off and actually made 599. So not terrible. Keep in mind it was 103* in the shop... Thanks Florida.

Here is a pic of the final install and the dyno graph from yesterday and today. This is on the stock maggie tune. Look at 4k where it actually dips into the 10s on AFR. This is going to pick up huge when Ted's done with it. Cant wait.

You should be making 15+ PSI with the stock 90mm pulley.

Where are you logging boost? HP Tuners?
