Great day at Fonatana...until the last session, when BAM!

Had lots of fun with another 1LE guy....Will in a white 1LE. He has been on the ROVAL 12-13 times I think he said, so I learned quite a bit from him and we trailed each other all day. Times kept improving all day and ended up with a 1:56 before I screwed the pooch and hit a pot hole coming out of turn 4....DAMN IT! It hit really hard and I thought I at least broke the rim and blew the tire, but instead a significant clunking under the car when turning left now. It was okay to drive home after looking for and finding no broken bits underneath, but the clunking is pronounced when I turn a bit hard to the left. Not so much the right. Any ideas what I broke or bent? Also a bit of vibration now.

Could be a control arm and/or sway bar end link. Hoping that’s it and not more

If your steering wheel went crooked, you should check very carefully for things that might have bent. Steering arms, suspension links, maybe even the knuckle.

Did you complain that there shouldn't be a pothole? I may be headed there in June, and I don't want to bend anything either. There's a chance that management at the track will be responsive to complaints - they don't want to develop a reputation of having poor conditions. When you get a bill for repairing your car, maybe send it to the manager of Auto Club Speedway, along with a letter explaining what happened. You may not get reimbursed, but it might encourage them to get their act together with maintenance of the course.

Sorry this happened to you!

Good running with you BirdmanF16. I also improved my time running with you and that GT350 R. That pothole is notorious. Hope they do patch it up. Let us know what the damage is. Here is a video of some of the action on Sunday. Thats Birdmanf16 in front of me.

I hit that same pothole on my 2nd or 3rd track day at ACS. I only ended up bending my passenger side rear wheel, not bad (doesn't shake or wobble can only tell on a tire balancer if you look close enough)

Also they normally put a cone in the hole so people don't track out so far that they hit the hole and clip the grass.

Check the sway bar endlink on that side in the front. May have loosened it or broke it.
