Is this xpel install acceptable
2nd time dropping car off at this shop first time was great. This time though it was dark when I picked the car up and drove it home it was a few days before I really got to look at it in the sun. This was a pre cut kit including the front half of hood, fenders, mirror caps and upper bumper piece. There are around 35-45 pieces of dirt or sand and 1 large hair under the xpel. You really don’t notice it unless you lean down and get 1-2 feet away from the hood. You really can't see it if the sun is shining directly on it. What y’all think?

It’s worth noting that this guy has been doing wraps for 25+ years he also did the front bumper which is difficult and it came out great. The seams are good and no air bubbles are present.

It's obviously all personal preference, but assuming you paid north of $3k for that job, I would bring it up to those guys' attention and ask for a redo on that front piece. I'd be worried long term that the dirt might negatively affect the paint, although I admittedly have no proof of that.
If they've been in business this long, they should stand behind their work and agree to redoing it. Best of luck! Geoff |

If those are indeed pieces of dirt and debris under the film (and I'm only saying this because there were times when I thought the same about my car, yet it turned out the smudge or piece of dirt was on top), then this is not acceptable IMO. There must have been a wind gust or someone kicked up dirt while he was doing the hood panel.
From your description and pictures, it seems only that one piece is affected. I would show this to the wrap guy and respectfully request him to redo this one. Mistakes happen.

If your not happy, contact them and let them know. Obviously don't be a dick about it, but just explain you finally saw it in the sun and found all those issues. Im sure they can fix it.

I agree with this. Only you know if you are happy or not. There will be plenty of people who will tell you that you got cheated. If you aren’t happy, talk to them. If you got a great deal and can’t live with it, then that’s an option too. If they don’t work with you…let everyone you know not to do business with them. I had a similar experience with my ppf guy and the the owner worked with me to do what he could to fix the major issues and send me on my way as happy as possible.

Are you sure they're not paint chips/imperfections that were there before the expel ?? Not a new car right ??

Not a new car it had 24k on it prior to expel install. Yes I am 100% certain it is not pre existing paint damage there is 1-2 nicks in the paint that were there before but that is not what I am talking about. Its pretty clear there is some debris under the expel and on top of the paint. I will make the call tomorrow and talk with him. I would never be disrespectful to this guy he's a good dude and I have known him prior to this. Hopefully he will replace it and it won't cost him much since he is a xpel certified dealer.

if a day in the sun doesn't help, than i would send the car back to him... that sucks for him big-time... that material is very expensive, and the labor sucks.

Good to hear! Shit happens, but how they handle it afterwards is what separates good shops from bad ones
