enabling AFM on a Manual trans
wanted to start a thread on whether anyone has been successful in enabling AFM on a manual SS. We apparently have the hardware, I would like to see if we can activate for our own experimenting.

Why would you want this on? I for one am glad it's off on the manual...I don't like the sound it makes, and I don't think certain engine parts getting more or less use due to this being active is good for longevity.

i know you, and many others don't like it. while you may be understandably jaded from experiences in gen iv engines, I have had positive experience from it in my genv engine in my 14 silverado.
i figure, if i have paid for the more complex parts, possible added risk of failure, and lost of high RPM range from a cam swap without pulling the heads, i might as well experiment to see if i can get any extra MPGs. |

I like it in my C7 M7, it's a bummer they deleted it on the gen6 SS M6. I only use it (Eco mode) during long roadtrips, but it leads to a noticeable increase in highway MPG. Hopefully the tuners find a way to activate it in Eco mode like the Corvettes.

The valves collapse and stay closed to create "air springs", maintaining pressure on the pistons, rods, and crankshaft. I am very curious why there is no AFM on the manual transmission Camaros, but there is on the Corvette. I think all the hardware is still there (collapsable lifters, etc)....but I'm not 100% sure. |

I know there are resonance challenges in v4 mode, could that may be amplified by the transmission???

I really didn't notice the afm on my 16 like my 15. The 15 was in and out all the time and you could feel. I drove my new 16 about 240 round trip this weekend and hardly noticed it and got over 27 mpg running about 78 mph. Its way better then the gen 5 A6.

Anyone know if you can associate the AFM to a drive mode in the tune? For example, I would like to have AFM on when in Tour mode but turned off in sport and track mode.

Where is your info from stating we have "the hardware"? Just wondering as I tend to not agree.
