Thumbs up Half Mile Race - 8/15 and 8/16 - MARION, IN

https://airstripattack.co/

Marion Municipal Airport
5904 South Western Avenue
Marion, IN 46953

Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 8:00 AM - Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 5:00 PM (EDT)

I think this would be a riot and I'm 99% sure I'm going. At least entering the race for Sat. Not sure my schedule allows me to race both days. Is anyone else thinking of going or has attended in the past? I searched through old threads and someone posted that their car, across different years, picked up 22% mph compared to their 1/4 mile trap. That will put me in the 160 range which would be cool.

have you been to this one before?
i would like to see if anyway or if they have a 3/4 mile or 1 mile that they will let us do. Maybe the airport isn't even that big enough.

Does not look like that event will have a mile. The closest standing mile race to you that I can think of is Blytheville, Arkansas with the ECTA. But I don't know if they have a class that would allow your street car to run full speed to the mile, you would have to check on that. ECTA in the past was based on SCTA rules, and normally under those rules, a car over 135mph requires rollbar or rollcage and other stuff depending on how fast they think it could go. But it was a long time ago that I was at Maxton and the ECTA has a new owner now, so I don't know if their rules have changed under the new ownership.

There are other mile venues that probably have a class for you to run with your street car, but they entail much longer travel to get to from where you are than Blytheville does, that's why I focused on this event. BTW suggest looking into the piston ring gaps in stock LT1s issue and what that could mean for long runs with a supercharger before you make your final decision on long WOT runs.

I have not. My engine is built and I have a feeling i'll be bringing a laptop and sending a log to my tuner to make sure everything is OK. Adding another 1/4 of WOT is a lot of load. Holding my car WOT for a mile would be an ultimate test. That's a lot of stress on every single part of the car. I'll stick with 1/2 mile first.

I def dont want a cage but man holding these cars wot for a mile would be nuts.
