So, whats the verdict? How well do they work and are they worth the price?

1. They're pretty.
2. They're small.
3. They're expensive.

So yes they will help reduce rock chips. If you're willing to spend the $ on an OEM look, go for it. I wasn't, as I'd already spent 10x that on PPF & coatings.

Anyone happen to have the part # for the longer wheel liner pins that are needed for the zl1addons rock guard installation? I was getting ready to install them, then found this thread saying they won't work without that pin :|

Looks like they have updated the design, no longer need the longer clips.

Sweet. I was gonna be a bit peeved lol. Thanks!
Looks like the video isn't a ZL1 though (didn't listen to the sound), but guess I'll slap em on to see.

Has anyone tried the GM ZL1 splash guards? Likes or dislikes?

My car isn't scheduled for PPF for another month and wondering if they offer decent protection. Do they fit well with the OEM side skirts?

Last everyone knew is that GM didn’t offer them for ZL1’s. Had they, most folks would have probably gone that route. It’s a shame they don’t because the ZL1 needs them more and they blow away the 2 options we have. I went ZL1 Addons route, pleased with the price but would jump to the OEM design in a heartbeat if available.

I have the ACS composite stone guards. They are a minimalist style for sure. I do like them they offer just enough coverage IMO. They have a sleek oem look to them which I like. The Zl1 addons version looks a little cheesy to me. You get what you pay for

I’ve had the ZL1 addons rock guards on both my 6th gens.

When I purchased my 2017 2SS (previously enjoyed), she had 7000k on the odometer. Not much, but she was littered with rock chips down each side. I had her repaired, installed the ZL1 Addons guards, and didn’t have another issue.

When I bought my ZL1, I put them on the car when she had 3km on the odometer. They are easy to install, you can’t notice them, and they work.

Yesterday the shop doing my PPF for my Z said now they cant get me in until the 2nd week of May. Can't make up my mind if the rock guards would help me much in the meantime. Our driveway is 600 feet long and all gravel. I can drive the Z very slow before hitting the main road. I would of thought the side skirts offered some protection, wrong?

Thoughts? Add protection now? The PPF will go up and cover to the body line on the door which is about 3 inches up from the bottom of the door.

Trust me it will help. I waited to install mine, I waited until my second set of rims came in to install the guards. I should not have waited. I have full PPF on my car but I did notice very hard to notice faint white specs in front of my rear tires. If I had the guards on I think there would have been none.
I went with ACS. Nobody notices they are there as they look factory. Expensive but I am very happy with their subtle appearance.

I had these OEM splash guards on another 6th gen and even if they were available for the ZL1, they offer very little protection, cost a lot and the front ones attach with rivets, which makes them more difficult to replace.

Running the RPI Designs premium rock guards at the moment, they look and are sized essentially the same as the ZL1 Addons one. Yeah, they look a bit like mudflaps and the width is nowhere near covering the whole tire, but from the look of them the ACS part gives even less protection.

I see an opportunity here for a decent looking new option that is as wide as a 285 or 305 tire and sticks out far enough to actually protect the paint.

Thanks Scott,

Since the ACS guards have been out for about a year can any owners add an update? If you don't have PPF on your Z are they actually preventing the sides of your car from getting chipped? $400 is a lot of coin and just want to make sure its worth it.
