Door damage

I had the oddest thing happen tonight. When I fully opened the passenger door, I heard a loud creaking/cracking noise. I stopped it as soon as I could, but it was too late

Upon inspection, it appears the interior plastic attached to the ground effects piece somehow got caught on the corner of the door. It’s mashed pretty good and the door metal is slightly bent.

I’ve made a dealer appointment to have it fixed and hope it’s covered under warranty. The car is a few days old and has less than 500 miles on it. It’s one of the first times I’ve even fully opened that door. Excuse the dirt, but I just got it ceramic coated and haven’t washed it yet....

Anyone heard of such a thing?

That sucks. I hope the car wasn’t lifted in the wrong lifting point causing this. Hopefully this is a factory thing and will be covered under warranty.

Good question and thank you...

I don’t think it was lifted at the wrong point because there is no damage from below. The damage seems to have started from above.

I hope you are right.
I only say this cause it’s been documented before that these cars have been known to be lifted in the wrong spots causing panel misalignment.
Man that sucks regardless of how this happened.

Would not be the first on this forum with someone lifting in the wrong point.

Looks like from the pics that it was lifted wrong!
