A good compromise street/strip tire with good handling and traction.
Yep. That's the same call I am going to make too. Unless something else comes out soon. I am thinking that I might not even need to relocate anything with those tires and they will match up nicely with my fronts.

I do remember the crazy loud sound from DR's on my last car and I am not crazy about that, but truthfully, 99% of the time, I am driving with the top down. . .so noise is less of an issue.

toyo r888r's is what i run on all four corners. 285 35 on rear. The tires stuck for about the first 1000 miles not were approaching 4-000 and they are not holding near as well as new sticker ones. I have been debating on what to do as well. I don't see myself going autocross but more drag racing. SO... I guess skinnies up front and the 17" wheel in the rear with a slick on it. I have no idea of where to start to look for either there wheels 17" or slicks. Might call Hoosier or Good Year to see what all the COPO guys are using?

I am thinking Toyo r888r’s with 285/30’s up front and 315/30’s on back. That is my plan a. I really just want to understand what the impact is of running 20in wheels vs 17in. How much do I give up?

I am currently running the R888R in a 285/35/20 on factory wheels in the rear. I purchased these as I did not want a taller drag radial and am now awaiting the 285/30/20 MT ET Street release. Under identical conditions and bone stock, the R888R gave me .2 improvement over stock tires in the 1/4 mile, but this is with TC ON. With TC off you have to peddle the car out of the hole - a mash of the peddle results in the same as with the factory tires - spinning out of control through three gears, getting sideways and me letting off the gas. I was expecting much more and was very disappointed with these tires at controlling the initial torque hit off the line...they are not drag tires.

Any difference in MPH? What was your trap speed with the R888R?

I am thinking about getting a setup just for track. Forgestar 17in setup with either Nitto 555R or MT’s. If I could find a drag radial for my regular wheels what would be perfect, but it appears that since I went 285/30 front and 305/30 rear, any of the DR’s are too tall compared to my front.

I was emailing wi5h Paul at PK Designs yesterday. He was a great help getting my wheels, tires, sensors and lowering springs last time. He suggested forgestar rear wheels (17in) with wither the Nitto 555R or the MT Streets. The Mt’s are a little more expensive...with that setup, I could just leave my front wheels and tires on the car.

I think with both, the tire would be a 275/40...

It was late last year but I recall losing a mph or two. While other factors like track prep and DA play a role, tire for tire in my conditions (which I did not record in full) left me expecting more from the R888R. We did some street 0-60 runs in the Florida weather: consistent 4.4 factory rubber down to 4.2 on the R888R w/ TC on and full throttle off the line. If you peddle off the line, you can get better times, but not consistent. If I stick w/ 20s I will try the new MT drag radial I mentioned (26.7" based on size, 27" per MT). I want a tire as close to stock height as possible.

I am considering the rear brake replacement and the Weld 15s, though. Decisions...

What about the Hoosier R7? Looks like that might be a good setup...

I just saw they released the size I am looking for. They appear to be comp tires, though and not specifically drag radials. These R888Rs have made me leery of comp tires. Based on the feedback in the other post I will try the 20" MTs if I can find them.

Just spoke with M/T. The 285/30/20 size is not even produced yet; they are accepting orders with scheduled release of Q3 2018, no specific date. They suggested I get on the back-order list.
